Panic! At The Disco: There's A Good Reason These Tables Are Numbered Honey, You Just Haven't Thought of It Yet Meaning
There's A Good Reason These Tables Are Numbered Honey, You Just Haven't Thought of It Yet Lyrics
From that moment you'll be out of place and underdressed.
I'm wrecking this evening already and loving every minute of it.
Ruining this banquet for the mildly inspiring...
-
"I'm the new cancer, never looked better, you can't stand it.
Because you say so under your breath.
You're reading lips "When did he get all confident?"
Haven't you heard that I'm the new cancer?
Never looked better, and you can't stand it"
I think this bit is about a girl that maybe dumped the guy who wrote the song or cheated on him or something and now that he's really big and famous he's rubbing it in that she did whatever to him.
And yeah I think they just added a story to it to make the song better.
Well that's what I've always thought... You don't have to agree. -
OK, I think there's this guy and he's like getting a bunch of attention, and there's this girl, who, before he got in the picture, was like the center of attention, and he want to like kill her or something, and he like hates her and wishes she would die cause he's like a greedy attention adick, (but this is an awesome song in the long run), anyway, this guy is talking to these people and there all wondering why she's now, like, unconfident, and the guy spiked the punch and then he's going to try to make her drink lots of it so she gets drunk and makes a fool of herself, and then she'll get sick from the cigarettes and he'll help her looking like a big hero, when really, he's the ass whole who started all this shit!

Thanks to this new information I've recieved here:
"I just wanted to make you all aware that nitroglycerin is not poison. They use it to make dynamite but it's used in heart medication, treating some spider bites, and apparently even condoms now. It's a vasodilator, which means it dilates or opens your blood vessels, decreasing blood pressure and increasing heart rate. It is addictive. Withdrawal from it can give you very bad headaches. I have no idea why anyone would think of adding it to cigarettes. I think this "cancer" just wants to fuck with people, certainly not kill them."
It makes it more clear than that if the heart is pumping faster, and if the punch is spiked, whatever is in the punch will take effect faster. Whether his intention is to kill the fading diva or to just make a fool of her, I believe that will be left up to everyone's imagination. -
i think the song is about some guy going to a party probably his exes and she probably cheated on him... and he goes there to get revenge and spreads rumors and stuff about her cheating so everyones talking about her behind her back... and plans on killing everyone there... like the nitroglycerin on the cigarette box nitroglycerin is an explosive and would explode... and
"I know, and I know, it just doesn't feel like a night out with no one sizing you up.
I've never been so surreptitious, so of course you'll be distracted when I spike the punch."
which is saying he's going to put something in the punch to like get back at everyone or at least get back at her -
I believe this song is about a couple. This couple had been going through some problems in their relationship and eventually broke up. The girl was cheating on the guy because of her lovers looks. They are both invited to a party, as well as her lover (now boyfriend). The guy got there before the girl. Sooner or later the new couple come in and the new guy is uncomfortable around her ex (feeling out of place and under dressed). The ex knows how he's making the guy feel that way (wrecking this evening already and loving every minute of it ruining this banquet for the mildly inspiring and choreographed). The ex knows he looks good in his black slacks with accentuating off-white pinstripes (a woah-oh). Everything goes according to plan.
His actions make himself feel like a new cancer, ruining the new couples evening, and he is ok with it. The girl is surprised at how good he looks, and confident, almost sorry that she left him. She reads his lips everywhere he goes to see if there is a new girl in his life. She can't stand how everyone loves him.
In vain she runs off to the ladies' room to ponder her problem. She realizes she dressed too informally and this only makes things worse (she can't keep up with these fashionistas). A whispering campaign, she's the only one who is so surprised at her ex's good looks.
To herself in the mirror to make herself feel better, choking back tears, says, "I'm a diva!"
Meanwhile the ex, to get bach at her further, laces her cigarettes with nitroglycerin.
She comes out of the ladies' room to get those cigarettes. She hates this feeling.
Notice the music slows down... The ex is regretting what he did. The music speeding up signifies him changing his mind, his hate overpowering his better judgement.
The girls new boyfriend somehow finds out about the nitroglyverin and plans to get even.
The ex is so occupied with his shock (caused by his seeing he has a real mean streak and is surreptitious, which means sneaky and stealthy) he doesn't see the boyfriend coming up to him.
The ex is distracted when the new guy strikes a punch.
That's my interpretation... I wish the song continued a story so I could know what happens next! -
The phrase "Oh and the smokes in that cigarette box on the table, they just so happen to be laced with nitroglycerin."
This phrase, like nearly every line of every song, is symbolic. The cigarette box is another attempt to regain the attention of the crowd, but it comes with a potentially deadly substance that will ruin the attempt, only making the problem worse.
If you notice the "Chuckle" made before the verse begins... it's a mocking laugh that says: Nice try, not good enough. -

I'm just going to give what I think the chorus means and jsut the chorus for the moment.
Firstly I think the narrator before was the shy kind who sat in a corner at parties and never got involved.i also think that this is his exes party.
I'm the new cancer. never looked better. you can't stand it.
I'm ruining your life. just look at me now. and don't you hate me for it.
Because you say so under your breath, your reading lips when did he get all confident.
she is saying - this isn't the shy person I knew.
and the reading lips bit.
shes asking to her friends when id he dare to stand up and do something, whee did this confidence come from, hed never normaly do this.
havnt you heard that I'm the new cancer
havnt you heard already, I'm the one everyones talking about for all the right reasons, I'm spreading like cancer.
Thats what I think at least the chorus means.

Since nitroglycerin is an explosive, wouldn't lighting a cigarette laced with it explode, potentially killing the smoker?
