I heard outta Freddie's mouth that...yes, he did write this song in 10 minutes while in the bathtub.

It's a tribute to Elvis. The words aren't about Elvis, per se, but they are like songs he sang and unlike other songs that Queen did. The music style and the singing style aren't like Queen, they're like Queen trying to be Elvis - as a tribute, not to rip him off. It works, for the most part. It wouldn't be as genuine if they wrote a song describing Elvis, because they only knew the public Elvis Presley, not the personal Aaron Presley.

That love is a crazy thing. Your either scared of it, you like it, or both. Love is hard to understand. Definitely when you are in Freddys shoes, I think he was a bit scared of it and since he is gay it might of been a little harder since in that time people might not of accepted him because he's gay. But yeah I think the meaning of this song is that love is untamed and crazy.

Crazy Little Thing Called Love is about Freddie’s fear of love and commitment. Throughout he relates love to things like child rearing and prefers not to be in a relationship. This could’ve been caused by his heartbreak and breaking of the engagement he had with Mary. Quoting that he can not handle love or that he isn't ready, he reinforces that idea into his head which made it difficult for him to find love.

This song is about experiencing this new emotion, love, and being unsure at first because it was different but now liking it. Later the narrator expresses this feeling for his "baby" and how she makes him feel love which makes him feel the need to calm down before he can "be" with her, in any sense of the word.
