"A band that is obviously gay"???? WRONG!! Freddie was bisexual and Brian, Roger and John were very much straight as an arrow. It's plain and simple an anti-suicide song much the same as "Keep Passing the Open Windows" from The Works was as well. Just love people who rant about things without getting their facts straight in the first place.

I heavily suspect that what's going on here is the band, who are obviously gay, yet just as obviously have come to be proud of who they are, giving some likely autobiographical advice to (likely male) gay teens struggling with their sexuality and having to deal with what must be the most difficult identity crisis imaginable, the inner conflict gay teens must suffer coming to terms with who they are despite the most intense of social influence that they're "sick" or whatnot. I highly suspect that a great deal of teen suicides result from the self-hatred of gay teens.

The older, more experienced "Queens" who must have gone through the same trauma earlier in life surely know very well how painful the struggle must be, as they themselves very possibly had to go through it.

Only they came out of it fine and proud of who they are, completely relieved of any of the inner conflict either they themselves may have gone through earlier in life, or if not them, they must surely be aware of others who've suffered and either contemplated suicide, or tragically actually went ahead and committed suicide.

Queen deserves my highest praise for this song, a song for which I have no doubt in my mind must have saved countless lives.

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

He is talking for the ones that want to commit suicide so people will "care" about them when they are already dead, but the true is , if nobody cared your existance, why will they care if you´re dead? So don´t do it and try to make the people care about you ALIVE. Cause you will be missing big oportunities, and moments to live.
