Secondhand Serenade: Fall For You Meaning
Fall For You Lyrics
Could it be that we have been this way before
I know you don't think that I am trying
I know you're wearing thin down to the core
But hold your breath
Because tonight will...

#1 top rated interpretation:The intro makes it obvious that the song is a guy telling his girl about his relationship with her, and that they are always fighting. “Could it be that we have been this way before?” To me, the way the guy says that, shows that he’s a little sarcastic; questioning if they had ever gone a night without fighting. It also implies that it’s been so long since they’ve had a good night, he can’t believe there was a time where they didn’t fight at all. “I know you’re wearing thin down to the core” He knows she’s coming to her breaking point with something he’s doing.
In the chorus he is clearly telling her to wait and see they’ll have good nights again (and again). There’s an interesting part though, that makes it apparent the he is in control of the relationship. When he says “Don’t make me change my mind” it shows that he might go back on his words, and hints that maybe he has before. He then goes on saying that she’s unlike anyone he’s ever met.
This whole section confirms my suspicions. He must have cheated on her at least twice before. He didn’t mean for it to happen, and he promised he wouldn’t do it again. She thought he was better than that, but he gave in. Though he gave in, it was always her he wanted.
The chorus, once again, restates the ideas it had the first time through.
These are the last verses before the ending chorus. At first, it seemed kind of detached from the rest of the song, but if you look closely it makes sense. He’s telling her to calm down and take what he’s saying into consideration. “And hold on to your words, cuz talk is cheap” That part might seem like he means that she shouldn’t speak, but I think while he’s saying it to her, he means it about himself; that he will be holding on to his words, his promise, and that it doesn’t matter what he tells her, because “talk is cheap”. He’s not going to cheat on her anyway.
The chorus, for the final time, emphasizes the point it was trying to get across -

#2 top rated interpretation:I think "Fall For You" is a song about love (obviously).
"Best thing 'bout tonight's that we're not fighting"
I suppose the girl and the guy have been fighting a lot lately and finally one night, they're not.
"Could it be that we have been this way before?"
They been fighting a lot and they can't remember when was the last time they never fought.
"I know you don't think that I am trying"
I guess the girl doesn't think the guy's trying to stop the fight.
"But hold your breath because tonight will be the night that I will fall for you"
Umm.. I suppose that throughout all the fighting, the guy has found out that he truly loves the girl.
"Don't make me change my mind"
He doesn't want the girl to do something so he will decide that he doesn't love her. Because he likes the feeling of loving her.
"A girl like you is impossible to find"
He doesn't wanna stop loving her because he thinks he can't ever find a girl like her to love.
That's what I think. -

#3 top rated interpretation:I think this song is about a couple who have fought many times because the girl thinks he hasn't been trying to keep their relationship but the guy is telling her that he is trying and that he loves her to much to let her go. That there is no other person he will fall for, there is no one like her but then he does something stupid "this is not what I intended, I always swore to you I'd never fall a part". " you always thought that I was stronger" means she found out about the stupid thing and she thought he was better then that. He states that he made a mistake and he knows it but he still loves her and he always has. He states the fact that he will always be hers no matter what and not to say anything because he knows she's mad and he knows he messed up but he doesn't want them to fight any more. He wants her to forgive him someday.

It's about a love gone bad. A guy wants his girl back and the only way to do that is in his dreams... so tonight will be the night I will fall for you,(he falls asleep to dream about her)... don't make me change my mind I always assumed he wanted to dream her so don't make him change his mind was a different dream and he didn't want that so don't change his mind/dream. What did the writer say? Anything?

This is a love song <3 and this teenage boy who is an adult now and he is falling for her all over again like they did when they met. I love this song its so sweet and i love it.

Regrets.
-
He's "falling for her one more time" and he is afraid of not obtaining her love once again "because a girl like her is impossible to find"...... At least this is how I see it
-
He cheated on her and keeps apologizing. But the trust is gone. So he's gonna commit suicide hence 'i won't live to see another day' to prove his love because he thinks that she's the only girl he'll love.
