Song Released: 2016
Cheap Thrills Lyrics
It's Friday night and I won't be long
Gotta do my hair, I put my make up on
It's Friday night and I won't be long
'Til I hit the dance floor
Hit the dance floor
I got all I need
No I ain't got cash
I...

#1 top rated interpretation:It means that money is not needed to have fun and do cool things and you dont need money do be happy.

#2 top rated interpretation:Personally, I think that this song is trying to show that you really don't need money to have fun.
Let's try to break down the term "Cheap Thrills".
"Cheap" is literally cheap. Not expensive, not costly, just cheap.
Now, "Thrills", in this case, would mean things that bring enjoyment.
So, "Cheap thrills" in this case would literally mean non-expensive things that bring enjoyment and that kind of speaks for itself.
Of course, this is just my interpretation, so feel free to disagree :) -

Who’s going to pay to get into the club? The boyfriend! Who’s going to buy the drinks? The taxi home? The boyfriend.
I ain’t got cash, but I’ve got you, baby
Sia’s Character in the song is a freeloader, who relies on her boyfriend for everything. She cannot even be expected to take cash on a weekend night out because in her head, it’s her right to mooch off her friends.
Horrible woman. Obsessed with her looks. Dump her

It's simply a song that tells you to have fun rich or poor, old or young, girl or boy whoever you are?
No money needed
Love this song♥️ -
Well I think sia is saying that we don't need money to have fun. the cheap means we'll cheap and the thrills is enjoyment. Something injoyable that cast nothing.
-
I think that sia is telling us that life's not just about money or luxury that in life money does not give us pure happiness you should just be free to have fun the way you want and enjoy true happiness.
-
It's known that Sia has been sober for years. But even with that sobriety she can still go to the club and dance and have fun without buying anything to boost her mood like alcohol.
-
It's about a girl and a guy who had fun without spending money.
For the recent post, fake videoclip? You can make videos about girls and guys having fun without spending money. You have to invite a group of girls and guys and sort of follow her video or you can make your own video that is similar but with a different setting or try singing or wholesome games. Pick a wholesome place, whether outdoors or indoors. Ex.at the park or choose a multipurpose hall or gym that is free to use, etc. Hope this helps.

Dem alltag nach einer langen woche zu entfliehen, auch wenn es nur fuer kurze zeit ist. Spass zu haben, sich frei zu fuehlen und die sorgen fuer ein paar stunden vergessen zu koennen.

cheap thrills indicate to a priceless enjoyment that the everyone want there no need money

Urban dictionary says that
a) a cheap thrill means doing things that usually of short enjoyment. (slang created at 2016, apparently, after sia's song)
b) a booty call. If a man asks a girl to go and do cheap thrills it means he's asking free sex
(slang created at 2009, before Sia's song).
Before these urban dictionary explanations I always thought it actually means to do vain empty things with no meaning, shallow happiness, short and shallow enjoyment -
Listen to the song and have fun. This is a wonderful song.we really don't need Money for enjoyment.when ever you want to enjoy just feel the beats and keep dancing on the dance floor.
-
I think that the black & white background means that in the past time they used to have fun without money (drugs, alcohol, etc) well in this video looks like they supposed to... It's a nice song and a good lyric
-
The real meaning is that you dont really need money or any meaningless hookups to have fun, you are capable of having fun by yourself, go out, hit the dance floor and dance to your heart's content. Coz in the end money cannot buy all the love that you need......
