Duality Lyrics

I push my fingers into my eyes...
It's the only thing that slowly stops the ache...
What Is made of all the things I have to take...
Jesus, it never ends, it works it's way inside...
If the pain goes on...
Aaaaaaaah!

I have screamed until...

call me crazy but if i had a headache i probably wouldn't even b able to listen to this song, even tho slipknot is most definitely my favorite band, the crossroads explanation sits well with me but i would like to think that maybe its about being stressed out from a gigantic load of BS that u can't handle, i could b wrong tho

I think it means that he is having a hard time picking a decision and he is getting pressure so he has to push his fingers into his eyes to relieve it.

I think the "I push my fingers into my eyes" is him saying that he can't take life and that's his "release" to all the stress.

Sounds like he has chronic headache like migraines or cluster headache (suicide headaches). I def recognise what he describes. Also it might just be metaphors. So if you wanna overinterpret and put some religious meaning into everything, go ahead.

Pushing your fingers into your eyes is sometimes the only thing that acually releaves some of the pain. Or just replaces it.

To me it's about when Corey was really really sick and he went through a lot.

Duality is short for two personalities. SO im thinking it has something to with like Dr. Jekyal and Mr. Hyde. But i could be TOTALLY wrong.

The part that says "You cannot kill what you did not create" I took as there blaming god for anyones and everyones death because if he created us then he must be the only one who really kills us

I feel that the song means that corey feels so much pain inside, that he wants to stop it from incubating inside of him.

Maybe it's about that adrenaline where you feel twice as strong as you are.

Taylor explained the story behind the album's first single, "Duality," which features the repeated line "I push my fingers into my eyes." "Did you ever get that headache that is just not going to go away, and you end up sticking your thumb and middle finger so far into your eyes, just to stop the pain?" he explained. "It usually has to do with making a choice. You get to that point in everyday life when you have to make a decision that you may not want to, but you're kind of pushed into that position.

" 'Duality' is about standing at the crossroads of your life, looking down both paths, and going, 'Now what am I going to do?' "

It's about relieving stress by pushing your fingers into your eyes or in shor emoness. I know it's a stereotype that most people that listen to this kind of music are thought of to be emo. Some are but not all. Any way back to the song, it is just about hurting yourself to make the emotional pain in your mind into physical pain so you can better deal with it.

I'm not a slipknot fan and I still couldn't miss the meaning of this song. I'm not really into this style but it spoke to me the first tim I heard it. I don't know if it's just me but this song seems to be an anthem for people who are simply in a really bad place in their life and is experiencing a lt of frustration and emotional pain. "if the pain goes on I'm not gonna make it" - if this feeling doesn't stop I'm not sure I can come out of this unscarred

"its made of all the things I have to take" - the pain he's trying to distract himself from, his frustration all stems from having to take people's bullshit and he just wants them to give him a break- "Leave me all the pieces then you can leave me alone".

It's how I interpret the song anyway. I see this as a song about being plagued with bullshit and just being so frustrated you feel so helpless that you have to so something anything to get it out- "dig my fingers into my eyes". Diffferent people may interpret it differently but that's how I see it!
