Slipknot: Duality Meaning
Song Released: 2004
Duality Lyrics
It's the only thing that slowly stops the ache...
What Is made of all the things I have to take...
Jesus, it never ends, it works it's way inside...
If the pain goes on...
Aaaaaaaah!
I have screamed until...
-
OK now if you listen to the other songs in the album you can see it is both about the band breaking up and a girl {in Vermilion and Vermilion part2} Duality is a combination of both in the sense that he is breaking both relationships to keep both relationships{it does and does not make sense} He needs to leave the band to stay with his girl, but he needs to leave his girl to be able to be in the band{they are both distractions of each other} the song is about that situation of "oh shit wtf do I do now" he recaps on his decisions that lead to the present pain of his situation.
-
I think it's about schizophrenia."Jezus it never ends and pushed its way inside","the ache","reality is better then the dream","nothing is what it seems".
"Things I have to take"could be medicine or referring to an addiction like weed which can cause schizophrenia. -
Duality was the first single from they're latest album, "Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses". The song is pretty much about what the band went through. It's how the band came real close from being written off and with the help of the fans they made it. It's also a main interpretation for it. Corey explained it's about standing at the cross roads of you're life, looking both WAYS and wondering "Now what am I going to do?" I think it's about making a real BIG decision in life that you may not won't too. It's about how SLIPKNOT waded through all this bullshit, rejoicing, suffering, destroying but most importantly reconnecting as a unit.
-
It's about anything really. It's about all the bullshit that anyone ever in their lives ever has to take and it never stops. Ever heard the phrase kill the mental pain with physical pain? You'd rather push your fingers into your eyes than put up with it
-
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

"I push my finger into my eye" is referring to how one holds their head when they have a migraine. A migraine brought about by making hard decisions. By looking at yourself, and not liking what you see, as well as thinking about how you got there and how to change. That is what I believe the song is about.
-
Hey, cut the guy some slack. I read somewhere that Corey said that the song was about the headache thing as well, though it probably isn't creditable without a source citation. Stop crediting people without citations, you are uncreditable without it. Don't believe any quotes you read on there that don't have a citation.
This song is pretty straight forward if you ask me, just look at the lyrics and you'll get a pretty damn good idea what the song is about. If there is a hidden meaning wait for Corey to come forward and say it, don't take someone else's word for it. Sometimes, songs are straight forword, there really doesn't need to be a hidden meaning behind everything. -
I think its both the cross roads and the headache of making the right decision and being unsure about what one you should choose so you have a headache from a very difficult decision in your life. But who cares what I think?
-
To me the song talks about how hard one's life can be,and the struggle of trying to make it better. Maybe I'm wrong, but that doesn't matter. It's what I think that counts.Stay[sic]
-
Hey guys, take it easy on the guy who wrote that it's about a migraine.
No interpretations are wrong.
But I do HIGHLY doubt that's what they meant the song to be about.
Leave the interpretations up to the listeners and fans.
It's all how you chose to look at it. -
Try not to take any lyrics too seriously. everyone has their own interpretation of each song depending on who they are.
-
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
-
Its not about a migraine you idiot. How does that make any sense. Your a real idiot to think up something that supid.
-
Yeah duality is when you are thinking about what way to go,and then just going, like that guy said the cross roads, and stuff
