Snow Patrol: Chasing Cars Meaning
Chasing Cars Lyrics
Everything
On our own
We don't need
Anything
Or anyone
If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?
I don't quite know
How to say
How I feel
Those three words
Are said too...

This song is about love going by the line 'those three words, said too much but not enough"
This means that he I could be saying too much but to him its not enough because of how much he loves this person, and he's wondering if she loves him as much as he loves her "if I lay here would you lie with me and just forget the world" saying that they can be truly together in love without worrying bout anyone else and what they might think -
i think that this song really tells you that it is about finding someone that would give the world up just to be with you. also, that person would not try to change you.

I think it has nothing to do directly with dogs, but the "chasing cars" thing is a reference to dogs. I read that Gary Lightbody's dad gave him some advice when he was infatuated with a girl. He told his son, "You're like a dog chasing a car. You'll never catch it, and you wouldn't know what to do with it if you did." (I did read it on wikipedia, so you never know if it's real or not). But still, it makes sense. I think he's saying that he thinks he's so in love with her, but perhaps he knows they aren't meant to be together. He knows he will never have her in his life, and even if he did, it wouldn't bring him complete happiness anyway. He knows in the back of his mind that it is a hopeless case, but his passion is so overwhelming that he can't help but tell her he loves her.

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

This song is about someone that is deeply in love. The person is expressing how he/she feels as well as asking if the other person feels the same. "Those three words are said too much they're not enough". Even the words "I love you" are not enough to express how the person feels about the other, he/she is pretty much obsessed and wants the other person to feel the same way.

For me, this song is about two people who are in love, but because of their circumstances, they can never really be together. He just wants her to lie there with him, and for that moment, they can just forget about the world and be happy.
-
How I interpreted it was that it's pretty much a "test" or whatever, so that if you really care about someone, you'll just forget about everyone else, or forget about what they think about you, and talk to someone, hang out with them, work something out with them.

To me this song is about finding someone who won`t get lost in the worlds many activities or events and won`t forget about you. Someone who will just ditch the world to be with you. Finnding someone you love so much that you cannot describe the way you feel about them, maybe you haven`t really met them but you know that some how you can`t forget about them. To find someone who won`t try and change you.
