Meant to Live Lyrics

Fumbling his confidence
And wondering why the world has passed him by
Hoping that he’s bent for more than arguments
And failed attempts to fly, fly

We were meant to live for so much more
Have we lost ourselves?
Somewhere we live...

Meant to Live by Switchfoot is probably about suicide. or internal suicide, to be more specific. it sounds as thoough lead singer, Jon Foreman, is conveying the message of every teen today. living with their eyes half open. one foot in the innocent naiive world of childhood and one in the expiremantal, rushed adulthood. and the lonely, lost confused feelings we get afterward. teen agers that shut down emotionally or physically were after all meant to live but couldnt see it. and they lost themselves.

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

Ultimately, this song is a religious one. I feel that it is the song of someone admitting that yes, we make mistakes and maybe try to live for the wrong reasons, but ultimately, it's about God and living for a higher purpose - to serve Him.

The line "we lost ourselves" is so often reflected in us in society - we go through a phase of not understanding ourselves, getting lost and not necessarily finding the right guidance. However, God can be that leader and He gives us so much to live for, and we should be living by that idea.
