Taylor Swift: Mine Meaning
Song Released: 2010
Mine Lyrics
Left a small town, never looked back
I was a flight risk with a fear of falling
Wondering why we bother with love if it never lasts
I say can you believe it?
As we're lying on the...

#1 top rated interpretation:It's obvious that it's about a girl who is intimidated by the idea of a successful relationship because her parents didn't last. She expects things to fall apart, but that's not the case. They had a close call, but he promises to stay with her no matter what.
I love it already! Is it October 25th yet? -
2TOP RATED
#2 top rated interpretation:This song has a literal and figurative meaning to it. The literal is quite obvious; she was raised by watching her parents relationship fall apart, so she was lead to believe that all relationships would end like that, so there was no use trying. Then she met a boy who understood her, and asked her to marry her. "you saw me start to believe for the first time" is the part of the song where she starts to realize that not all relationships have to end up badly. They get in a fight, just like the ones her parents had, and she thought that everything they had would be over, but he took her by surprise and told her that he will always be there for her. The figurative meaning is similar to the literal one; it's a message to any girls with insuccessful relationships, who are starting to believe that all boys will treat them wrong, it's saying that eventually, you'll find the perfect boy who will treat you right.

#3 top rated interpretation:Its about a girl whose parents were always fighting all the time. Her mom walked out on her dad, and he had bazillions of other girlfriends who did likewise. So she is convinced that no relationship is successful. But then she meets this guy whose perfect and disproves the idea that all relationships don't work. They marry and have a hapily ever after( this parts in the video)

Taylor's character doesn't have faith and trust in love and she doesn't think it will work out because of her parents relationship but she goes into a cafe and when she sees the waiter she basically falls in love with him and can imagine and plan out their whole future together like moving in with each other and getting engaged and married and then having kids and she realizes that love actually can work out.
-
Of course, I'm sure this hadn't happened in real life to Taylor Swift: I'm sure her parents hadn't had any conflicts!
What I mean is:
In the music video, her "parents" are so blinded in rage and fury for whatever reasons and causes the daughter (played by Taylor Swift) to be skeptical, non-believing, stoic, and jaded in terms of love and be afraid to take the risks of heartbreak, thinking that love will never exist/work/last. Until some random guy (who apparently is a waiter at some diner or restaurant) shows up and proves her wrong. Finally believing in love, she vows to not make the mistake that her parents did.
The song talks about trust and relationships, as trust in both yourself and your loved one is the key to a successful relationship. Never believe that love isn't real, love can be anywhere, and you could be proven wrong at any time. Not all relationships end in heartbreak. Remember what some adults say: "a successful marriage does not have any hardships". It's a total lie, and that's impossible. Every marriage (or in this case, relationship) will have hardships and fights once in a while. You just need to work on it and find a way out. -
I could be wrong, but I feel like the hidden message TOBY could also have to do something with Toby Hemingway, who played her love interest in the music video.
-
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

Well, there's a hidden message in the song lyrics, which spells out TOBY, so it's obviously about an ex-boyfriend of hers by that name.

well my opinion. alot like all of yours. girl watches relationship of her parents fail. she is guarded. walls and barriers up.. she meets this boy . they fall in love and he shows her what true love and understanding is. things get rough hard times. she thinks its over after a fight. and he again shows her that this is true love basically saying he isnt going to leave her. ' you are the best thing thats ever been mine" just basically means. out of all the hard ships. outof all the turmoil. he is the greatest thing to come from it all. and i say this because my fiancee. after failed relationship after failed relationship. showed me. that i am worthy of love and that not all relationships end in heartbreak.
