Taylor Swift: White Horse Meaning
Song Released: 2008
White Horse Lyrics
That face of an angel,
comes out,
Just when you need it to.
As I pace back and forth all this time,
'Cause I honestly believed in you.
Holding on,
The days drag on,
Stupid girl,
I should've known,
I should've...

#1 top rated interpretation:This song, to me, seems to be about a girl who has been dating this guy for a while and fell hopelessly in love with him. I would say that it is resonable to say that they had known each other for most of their lives, "This isn't Hollywood, this is a small town." Because everyone knows everyone and has probably known them since birth in small towns, I should know, I live in a town population 900. Her friends tell her that he is cheating on her and she confronts him about it at least once before the song began as suggested by the line, "As I paced back and forth all this time because I honestly believed in you." Then she sees him with another girl and lets him know that it's too late for him to 'get her back' by charging in like a knight in shining armor on his *white horse* because she had already given him a chance to fess up and he didn't. He realizes that he massively screwed up and beggs for her forgiveness but she can't forgive him for breaking her heart once because she can't take it being broken again. She still loves him, but she knows that she needs someone better than him.

#2 top rated interpretation:In my opinion, this song is about a girl who devoted herself to a guy who never really appreciated her until it was too late. She saw something in the boy that made her believe in him and the potential for something more which kept her hanging on for so long. I think this boy was aware of her feelings but for whatever reason, he always overlooked her and wouldn't give her a chance. She had convinced herself that they were right for eachother so she kept waiting patiently but he continuely kept disappointing her. Finally, she gets to the point where she's tired of waiting for him and all her hope has run out. She starts to see how naive she had been and realizes that she deserves better. Shortly after she gives up on him, he starts to realize what he had in front of him all along and asks for her to give him a chance but it's too late. She had been let down so many times before by him that it would never be the same and she realized that he wasn't right for her.

#3 top rated interpretation:In my opinion, the song is about a girl who is hopelessly in love with the boy who never felt the same until it was too late. I think that they were in a relationship that ended with the guy breaking it. I also think that this guy is charming and makes all the girls fall for him. The girl believed in him and vouched for him even though her friends told her not to because she would end up hurt. When the boy dumps her , it crushes her hope , but when he comes around and realizes that he loves the girl back , he`s too late.
*If you don't think that this is right, please don't come down hard on me. I just looked at the song and it basically happened to my best friend , so that's where I judged it from.* -
This song is about a toxic relationship she thought would last, but it didn't. Fairy tales don't always have happy endings, don't they?
-
its about a girl who gets hurt over and over by a guy she wants to be with. But she finds out he's leading her on, and that he has been lying to her all this time. So she confronts him about it. But he lies to her more. So she leaves. he tries to apologize but its too late. She's already gone
-
I think this song is about Taylor falling in love with her perfect guy but she doesn't yet know that her boyfriend is cheating on her so then she goes and confronts him and then she goes back home and cries because he let her down so basically the guy has been lying to her the whole time because he was already in a relationship.
-
in my life i see this song as a girl finding her first love and falls fast and then realizes that he was nothing that she thought he was. This is the exact situation that Im in...i fell for this guy and i thought i loved him and i did but in the end he never really loved me or even if he did...he was nothing that i thought he was.

i agree with blue.eyes818. its about a girl who fancied a boy but he didn't feel the same and when she finally moved on the boy realised she used to love him and he went to her but it was too late. that is my prediction no nasty comments please im olny young. i didn't copy someone else i corrected myself

I think this song is about her dating a guy that she has known for a while and doesn't really love her, but she really loves him. Then she finds out he's cheating on her and she leaves. He tries to get her back but she wouldn't forgive him because she knew she probably wouldn't be able to stand having her heart broken again.

In my opinion, this song is about a girl who devoted herself to a guy who never really appreciated her until it was too late

The song is basically about "deception". The girl unravels the real definition of love. "all this time, cause i honestly believed in you", is a way of saying [ i regret everything ].
the girl deceived herself that she was 'loved'. the truth is, she wasn't.
She chose to close her eyes and follow her heart. She was not aware that she was gradually eaten by her own desire to be felt loved. she was blinded. She was not in a relationship because she was alone.
The guy tried to win her back, but its too late. True love is not found in a fairy tale story. It is not always happy ending where the prince save the princess and they live happily ever after. Oftentimes, love stories are meant to end the other way around. The prince is not always there. The princess should learn how to save herself. -
is it just me or is this a bit like not like the movies by katy perry?

This is a story of how it could be:
A pretty girl falls hopelessly in love with the captain of the football team.
Not believing there was a bad side to her 'dream guy' she lets it slip past her when he seems to stare at the captain of the cheerleaders when he's with her, after a while she start's to see who he really is and she dumps him hard. Realizing what he was missing, he begs for her back. But she's done with his little mind games -
It's about a boy who never really loved you; he was in love with another girl, but his actions and words made her think that he loved her back.
First verse - is basically saying that he's saying that he's sorry, and he seems so sincere and truely sorry, but she's so that she was stupid enough to actually believe that all the time they spent together meant anything.
Chorus - is saying that she realizes that she's not gonna be the one that he falls in love with, and that fairytales don't always come true, and if he realizes that he actually likes her; hes too late to get her.
Verse two - is saying that maybe she got lost in his eyes, meaning that she fell for him so hard, that love was blind and she never saw that she actually had no chance with the guy. The next part said that she never knew that to be in love, you had to make an effort to outstand everyone else.
Verse three - this is where the guy does what every girl wants - he realizes his mistake and that he actually loves her. She knows that that was always what she wanted, but her pride is keeping her from going back. -
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

I think this song is about a girl who is in love with a guy who loves another girl, but he made her believe that he loved her, too. It says 'my mistake, I didn't know to be in love you had to fight to have the upper hand' which means she didn't know she had to try to be better than the other girl he loved. It also says 'I'm not your princess' which means he has another girl that's his princess despite the fact he made her feel like she was also his princess. I think she just realized that no matter what she does he is never going to love her so she has so leave to help heal her heart.

its about a girl who had such a perfect relationaship, she got so caught up it was like living a fairytale. and then something really bad happens, lke he cheats on her, and she "wakes up to reality" and is guilty she was too in love to realise. and when the guy come sbegging for forgivness, she regects because she dosnt want to live a fairytal again if shes gonna not know if its even real.
-
It's about a boy who doesn't realize how much he means to you until it's too late, and he breaks up with you for someone else/ cheats on you. He says he's 'sorry' and won't hurt you again, but deep down inside you know he won't change, and doesn't really mean what he says. You love him, but won't go back to him, because you don't want to get hurt again.
