Taylor Swift: Haunted Meaning
Song Released: 2010
Haunted Lyrics
I have known it all this time
But I never thought I'd live to see it break
It's getting dark
And it's all too quiet
And I can't trust anything now
And it's coming over you
Like it's all a big mistake
Oh...

#1 top rated interpretation:This song could be about more than breaking up with someone.
It could be that someone lead you on or just played pretend. And then as your so caught up in them, they just stop pretending. Leaving you to deal with everything they did to you; the false hope, every touch knowing it was a lie, and how you heart keeps breaking everytime you see them. And even after all that you still love them. -

#2 top rated interpretation:This is a song about two inseparable people who broke up, and one can't get over the other. Its obvious in the song that they did alot of things together, and that she deeply loved him, and couldn't dream of living without him, but he left and now she was heartbroken. They were obviously with each other for a long time, and he was helping her through life, because it seems that living without him seems out of the question.
Verse one - "you and I walk a fragile line .. I never though I'd live to see it break" means she always knew that he could leave her over the littlest thing, or something could go wrong easily, but she never though it would happen.
"it's getting dark .. I can't trust anything now" means that he was someone who she really trusted, and now that he, the one she really trusted, 'betrayed her' (by dumping her) all the light (good things) in her life seemed to disappear, and she can't trust anyone, because the one she really trusted disappointed her.
"it's coming over you like it's all a big mistake" means that she's still in denial, and she's saying "it's got to be a mistake, this can't be happening"
"whoa, holding my breath .. Won't lose you again" the use of 'again' in that sentence leads me to believe that they had a fallout in the past, but he came back, so that's why she's hoping that it will all work out this time, too.
"somethings made your eyes go cold" means that something made him leave her"
"come on, don't leave me like this," means that he can't just leave her in the emotional state she's in
"I thought I had you figured out" self explanatory
"somethings gone terribly wrong, your all I wanted" is saying that he's the only one she needs, so why did he, of all people, have to be the one to go.
"can't breathe whenever your gone, can't turn back, now I'm haunted" is saying that she's past the point of no return: she's so in love with him that there's no way she can live without him or get over him
Verse two- "stood there and watch you Walk away, from everything she had" means that she was there, expierenced the pain firsthand about how it felt when he walked away from everything they had"
"but I still mean every word I say to you" saying that even though he hurt her, she's still gonna be honest when talking to him.
"people try to take away my pain, and he just might make me smile; but the whole time I wish it was you instead" is saying that she has other boys trying to make her feel better, and that even though they managed to make her smile, she still wants him to be the one making her laugh instead.
"won't see you again, something keeps me holding on to nothing" is saying that she knows they won't get back together, but for some reason, she's not ready to move on yet, she's still holding on to something that doesn't even exist (which would be their love)
Verse three - "I know your not gone, you can't be gone, no" I'ls basically her saying "this can't be it, you cant be gone for good" -
3TOP RATED
#3 top rated interpretation:It's about falling in love with a boy who she really loved. She truely though that he loved her, too, and was deeply hurt when he broke up with her. Because she loved him so much, all they ever were is haunting her, and she can't forget about it, or move on. She still has hope that he will come back, because she thinks she can't live without him.

Haunted can be explained in many different ways and situations. I personally think it's about how you love someone so much but they randomly change out of nowhere and become distant. The guy that I like a lot was one of my guy best friends. We became really close and were pretty much already in the same friend group. Sometimes I felt like I had to chase his friendship but he would always spam me with texts and just talk to me and give me the same energy back. But then, one random day in summer, he became so distant and dry. I had to text him and he wouldn't reply. And when he did reply, it would always be one worded responses. Even now, sometimes it's like that. He barely ever texts me first but I'm always texting him privately. The weird thing, however, is that he's always talking to me or about me in our group chat but whenever we talk privately, I have to keep the conversation going or else it just stops. I just hate it because he was all I wanted but he just randomly became so distant.

I'm pretty sure this is another Joe Jonas one right? He made promises and told her he loved her then broke up over the phone in 27 seconds, never to come back. She is haunted because she felt him fading and couldn't do anything, then she had her suspiscions confirmed when he breaks it off and starts dating another girl weeks later. The shock and the confusion of the phone call wouldn't wear off easily, hence the secret message: STILL TO THIS DAY.

Am I the only person who thinks this is about a boy she (not taylor but someone the song is based on) loved who died and now she is still haunted by him..?

I'm pretty sure this whole song is about Star Wars 3: Revenge of the Sith. Just think about it from Padme's point of view:"You and I walk a fragile line, I have known it all this time" is describing her forbidden love with Anakin, because he is a jedi and therefore not allowed to be married. "But I's never thought I'd live to see it break." (Anakin turned to the dark side). "It's getting dark and all too quiet and I can't trust anything now." This describes Padme's refusal to believe Anakin's turn to the dark side when Obi-wan told her. "Oh I'm holding my breath won't lose you again something's made your eyes go cold." Because Anakin always goes away to other planets, and there's that one scene where Anakin turns around and his eyes are all red and evil. (Hence the "eyes go cold" part). "Come on, come on, don't leave me like this I thought I had you figured out Something's gone terribly wrong You're all I wanted" is how Padme feels when Anakin's gone. She also knows in her heart that Anakin had turned to the dark side but just refused to believe it. "He would try to take away my pain And he just might make me smile" describes Obi-wan's efforts to help Padme feel better."I know, I know, I just know You're not gone. You can't be gone. No." is like where Padme is dying and is all like "there's still good in him." Because she knows he's not all the way gone to the dark side. So this song is just about Star Wars.

This song could be about a breakup, but I personally think it's about being played or just being left hanging. That the person seemed so right or so perfect, but one day just left her hanging. She is confused and thinks that he will come back (I know, You can't be gone...") most likely because she did nothing wrong, or it was just so sudden, that it was a shock to her. There is still undone things between them. She wants him to come back and "finish what he started". She thought they were were all "figured out" and when he left she just couldn't understand why. And now she is haunted by the memories and him, and still cannot take in the fact that that he is gone.

I think it's about a girl who was in a relationship with a guy, but the guy doesn't really trust her. so when a new guy come around her, he broke up with her and she doesn't want the guy to leave him because she loves him too much and she doesn't love the other guy. she tried to explain but the guy didn't figure out. and she is haunted by the guilt and the misunderstanding.
-
I think that its about her being completely in love with a guy who she felt really loved her. And when he left he ripped her heart out... she was haunted by his memory.

Many People think that this song is about a relationship or a breakup. But no, this song can also be about a one sided love...They started out as friends...he never liked her so she thought they were on a fragile line....when he comes to know that she likes him he leaves her then she tells him not to leave her because she would probably die without him. She thought she knew him too well as a friend, she never expected anything to go wrong, cause all she ever wanted was him. Whenever she woud see him she would not be able to breathe cause she was haunted by all the memories. She couldnt stop him and had to watch him go away from her, she even says that she might start liking another guy who loves her back too but she won't be able to love that guy the way she loved him with her heart. she holds her breathe wanting something good but she says she wont loose him again or see him again but then she keeps hope thinking "what if he changes his mind". Something inside her makes her think that he is not gone forever from her life....there is still more of him to come.
In the end she says that she knew they walked a fragile path with problems but she never thought that it would break and they would go seperate ways.... -

I think it might be that she had a boyfriend and they had a fragile relashionship, and then he leaves her. Then, while they still are seperated, he dies.

The hidden message is STILL TO THIS DAY, so she must have fallen hard for a guy ("you're all I wanted") who then broke up with her, and those memories are still with her.
-
I think it about a guy who lead her on, making her think that he cared for her, then all the sudden he just dropped her... the only thing that she is holding on to is the hope that he will come back... and thats enough to keep her from ever getting over him and forgetting him :)

I think that the song is about a guy that she had fallen in love with and wanted to date. The guy probably didn't feel the same way about her but sometimes he would make her believe he did. Also the guy knew that she was in love with him. Because of this awkward and complicated situation, they walk a fragile line. Everything is too quiet and the text messages become shorter and shorter. Won't lose you again means that this has happened more than once. I thought I had you figured out shows that she thought that she had him. Maybe one day they talked for 3 hours and then the next they didn't. Somethings gone terribly wrong. He will try to take a way my pain shows that their is another guy in the picture, one that is actually in love with her and cares about her but their just not the other guy. SOMETHING KEEPS ME HOLDING ONTO NOTHING.. shows that we're not dating. just that i am in love with her and she isnt with me. annd wont be.
