Taylor Swift: Sparks Fly Meaning
Song Released: 2011
Sparks Fly Lyrics
And I'm a house of cards
You're the kind of reckless
That should send me running but I
Kinda know that I won't get far
And you stood there in front of me
Just close enough to touch
Close enough...

#1 top rated interpretation:This is a song about loving a boy who you aren't sure likes you back, but "sparks fly" whenever he's with you, meaning that you can feel the connection and chemistry between the two of you.
First verse - (the way you move is like a full on rainstorm, and im a House of cards) means that they are complete opposites - he isn't afraid to do anything, but shes more fragile, and gets hurts more easily.
(your the kind of reckless that should send me running, but I kinda know that I won't get far) means that he's not usually her type, but she's falling for him anyways
(and you stood in front of me, just close enough to touch, close enough to hope you couldnt see what I was thinking of) pretty self explanatory, she doesnt really want him to find out she likes him
Chorus - is saying that she wants him to be with her, and fill the longing that she has for him
Verse two
(my mind forgets to remind me your a bad Idea) he might not be the best guy for her, but she's falling for him anyways)
(you touch me once, and it's really something) he touches her, and it makes her want more
(you find I'm even better than you imagined I would be) he obviously thought that she wasn't that good for him either, but after getting to know her he realized she was actually pretty good
(I'm on my guard for the rest of the world, but with you, i know it's no good) she is careful to make sure that she guards her heart carefully from other people, but she feels like this boy understands her enough to open her heart to him
(and I could wait patiently, but I really wish you would ...)
She COULD wait for him to ask her out, but what she REALLY wants, right now, is starting to get the best of her
Verse three
(I'll run my fingers through your hair ... Wont you whisper soft and slow) all the things she imagines them doing
(Im captivated by you baby like a firework show) like a firework show, he never ceases to amaze her) -

#2 top rated interpretation:i think this song is about a some guy she likes but she knows she shouldn't because she knows that she knows she is going to fall for him more than he will fall for her. So she holds on to very moment and every smile cause she feels "sparks fly" when he does. And all she wishes is that he will want what she wants from the relationship

#3 top rated interpretation:This song was written when she was 16, and when she's asked what it's about she simply smiles. Also Taylor Swift once said it was impossible for her to be pregnant, but she's never publicly promised to wait until she's married. In fact, she refuses to talk about sex or her virginity status.
So with that and the lyrics, I definitely think it's about losing her virginity.

"as the lights go down"
(most people do 'it' with the lights off)
"i run my finger through your hair"
(something that is done before/during or after)
"lead me up the staircase"
(to a bedroom...)
"whisper soft and slow"
(again something that is done before/during or after) -
I think the song is another TAYLOR SWIFT CLASSIC! So amazing! And so excited for the Taylor’s Version of it! The song is probably just about falling in love but not sure if the other person is also in love.
-
Love this song the emotion she has!
This song makes sense, that she really likes this guy but is unsure whether he likes her back.
Kinda reminds me about my life, I like this boy a lot and am totally unsure whether he will ever like me back.
Well done Taylor, beautiful song, absolutely love. -
I feel like it's about her short Term relationship with Harry Styles for starters the lyric "Run my fingers through your hair." Harry has always said he likes people playing with his hair. Secondly the lyric "Get me with those GREEN eyes baby." Harry has green eyes. Also, it could just be a coincidence that she had sex with two extremely similar guys. My reasoning behind it being about sex is because it mentions "whisper soft and slow." and "lead me up the staircase." meaning take me to the bedroom. So in conclusion, I believe it's about her having sexual tension with A)Harry Styles or B)another very similar guy.
-
Chemistry attraction heated feelings and a desire to be sexual with a guy who is happy wanting a reckless guy who she wants but doesnt want him to know her tru feelings
-
Am I the only one that thinks its about sex?!
-
She has a partner who is very different from her, however she loves him and wants him to care more about her and helps her with the pain. It's like he's not attentive and doesn't care about the love she has in her heart. She needs more physical contacts but he's very carefree. She knows that he's not a good match, but wants him to be hers.
-
I think it's about a guy she likes but he just see's her as a friend, but he still cares about her a lot and she knows she can't have him because he's already with someone. I also think that whenever she see's him, she feels sparks fly between them because they're so close but she's still nervous about trusting him because someone might have let her down before.
-
Its obviously about a hoop up.
-
To be honest, I don't know what this song is about... I think that it's about her loving something from afar, and he's her friend, so she feels like she knows him... And she thinks that he doesn't love and/or like her, so she dreams about all this stuff that she wishes she could do with and have with him.
-
this song is about being in love with someone who you shouldnt really be in love with because they're so different from you, but you fall for them anyways
-
The song is about sex to put it simply. It's hinted more obviously in the originally version. It was changed to avoid being hounded by press and because some of the lyrics were questionable for a younger audience. In the original song it says "you say my name for the first time baby and I fall in love in an empty bar" which would be considered questionable. "So reach out open handed and lead me out to the floor. I don't need more paper lanterns. TAKE ME DOWN BRING ON THE MOVIE STAR" :O here comes more sexual references. "I run my fingers through your hair and watch the lights go out. Just keep your beautiful eyes on me gonna strike this match tonight. Lead me up the staircase won't you whisper soft and slow. I hate to love it but baby you make it like a firework show"
-
I think this song is about being in love with a guy and knowing that he doesn't return the feelings and not caring anyway and living off the moments where he sees you and smiles.
-
I think this song is about her falling for a guy hard, and him falling back, but her being hesitant because he's "The kind of reckless that should send me running, but I kinda know that I won't get far." Meaning that she knows that falling for him is dangerous, but she does anyway because he seems so right for her.
When she says "Drop everything now" she means, never mind what people think. Risk it all anyway. Because of his bad boy status, many probably are against it. So it is sort of a forbidden love type of thing.
It is an amazing song that I can totally relate to, and this is the interpretation to me. -
I believe'Sparks Fly' is about a girl who is falling for a guy but she knows she shouldn't because he doesn't feel the same way.
-
I think this song is about someone falling hard for a guy and he has feelings back. But she is at the same time nervous about letting him in. And she sees "sparks fly" whenever he smiles, which just makes the song. It really is an adorable song i really relate to
