Taylor Swift: Speak Now Meaning
Speak Now Lyrics
Who should be rudely barging in on a white veil occasion
But you are not the kind of boy
Who should be marrying the wrong girl
I sneak in and see your friends, and her snotty little family
All dressed in...

#1 top rated interpretation:This songs gives its title to the whole album, and there's a reason.
It's presented as a funny and catchy song, with fresh vocals, playful rythm and witty lyrics; it tells the story of a girl - inspired by a friend of Taylor's - who realizes that she can't let the boy she loves marry another girl, who's not right for him, and she's still in time to stop him; so she's finally brave enough to barge in the church as the preacher says "speak now or forever hold your peace" - when it's really "now or never". In the end, the boy runs away with her.
This sounds a lot like the happy ending of a romantic comedy; but the songs hides a pretty wider meaning. It's an encouragement to speak, to say out loud whatever your heart is screaming inside, because when it's too late you may regret it. When you have to say you're sorry, when you have to assume your responsibilities and forgive someone who actually deserved it, when you have to say you love someone.
There are some things you watch slip out of your hands, and that breaks your heart. But we always get a second chance, and those are the most crucial moments of our lives. Those moments when it's your turn to be listened, and it's up to you: you can run away and lose everything again, or you can be brave, take a risk and try to make a change. -

#2 top rated interpretation:The song is [most likely] about Hayley Williams and Josh Farro. In Taylor's interview, she states that the song is about her friend's situation. The friend can be inferred as Hayley Williams, since the song was released the same year as Josh's wedding, in which both Hayley and Taylor attended.

It is about how you shold speak everytime you think it`s right.
"You must not let time ecapes you without sayin anything."-Taylor Swift -
believe that it's about Hayley Williams and Josh Farro. Josh got married in April to another woman and both Taylor and Hayley attended the wedding. Hayley and Josh used to date but broke up for the sake of their band Paramore. so taylor and hayley sat next to together and shes basicly telling her you know you dont want im to do this and shes saying you need to speek up!"drop everything now meet me in the porring rain" sayng haley should tell them to drop the rai and josh should go with her!because sparks fly when hes with her!

The literal meaning Is a girl crashing a wedding to stop the boy of he dreams from marrying that wrong girl, but this song also has a beautiful, deeper meaning to it as well. It's telling us that life's to short to hesitate, so dont be afraid to speak now, no matter what the outcome. Compare that to the literal meaning of the song; she knew that he could easily say that he loves the other girl instead of her, but she knew what she wanted, and vocalized it. Life's to short to hold grudges and not say what you mean, so don't be afraid to say what you really want.

The song is about the boy she loves marrying someone else, who doesn't apprieciate him as much as she would. She overcomes her fears of rejection, and tells him that she loves him and he'd be better off with her than the other girl. It all ends well. The overall meaning of the song, though, is telling you to overcome your fears and do what you feel is right, anyway.

In an interview, Taylor Swift says this is about her friend who was dating a boy in high school but they drifted apart and one day her friend talked to the boy again and he told her he was getting married. Then Taylor asked her if she was going to go and "speak now" and that's where she got inspiration for this song.

I agree about it being about Hayley Williams and Josh Farro. But I don't think it is about a relationship that works out well, but rather the inability to let go of ideals of being with a person that you want but can no longer have, regarding their current situation.

This song is about saying things before its too late. Speak now as in saying "I love you." or "I'm sorry" or just saying something before the time passes.
