The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus: Cat and Mouse Meaning
Cat and Mouse Lyrics
picture perfect fading smiles are all that's left in sight,
I said I'd never leave you'll never change
I'm not satisfied with where I'm at in life.
Am I supposed to be happy?
With all I ever wanted, it comes with...

#1 top rated interpretation:Well its clear he isn't happy and the relationship between the two is not too good. he says to be happy it always comes with a price, meaning it is never easy to get what you want and be happy. She says she would die for him but she must live for me too, she says things to him but never puts real emotion or acts them in real life. A simple game of cat and mouse, she isn't putting anything to the relationship and he is always having to chase her and keep it together. Shes not being a good girlfriend and he isn't happy with where he is in life.:)

okay i think everyone else is right (relationship, cheating and all that) but i kept thinking about something different. (jesus people will roll their eyes at me, but i'm serious)but i thought about louis tomlinson and harry styles.
so, basically, in the beginning (x-factor) they were so happy and everything was easy and perfect and they could do what they had always wanted to do with the people they loved, and say they /are/ in a relationship, then it was okay and harry said "me and lou always knew we wanted to move in together" so clearly they made plans.
but they're in a boyband. half of their fans think (they really honestly think) that they can marry them, so obviously they can't come out.
"all i ever wanted" would be to sing and love without being judged, and the price, would be harry having to act as a total whore (he's only 18 for god's sake) and louis having to "date" eleanor calder.
i've seen recent pictures of them, and they don't look happy a bit. they look like they're hurting. i think it won't be long before one of them cracks, and does something stupid.
so yeah, i don't really think the song is about them (obviously, if i did i'd be pretty stupid) but i thought of them, and it kinda fits their situation and yeah i'm sobbing rn sorry -
To me, this song is about a guy and a girl growing apart (tremble as in breaking up was hard to do), but the guy doesn't want them to so he tries to be more than he can be (Am I supposed to be happy with all I ever wanted, It comes with a price?)"We Made plans to grow old" they were to be together forever. Now they dont know who one another is anymore.
-
I thought this song was about a guy who was madly in love with this girl, but he was depressed (am I SUPPOSED to be happy) so he left her, now he regrets it because he said he will never change.
Like, he knew that she was the best for him, but felt alone inside or something (she being the "price" to make her happy).
"We Made Plans to Grow Old" he planned to be with her forever, but he was the one who changed because he realizes they were growing apart as time went on("are we the same people as before this came to light?") -
I rate this song is about a relationship that used to be perfect and seemed like it would last forever, but now the guy feels like something is missing and he wants to 'find himself' coz he's not satisfied with where he is in life. (Either he or her may have cheated on the other and since then his feelings about the relationship may have changed even though he still loves her<- not too sure ). But the girl has completely centred her life around him, and she worries more about pleasing him than herself, and he wants her to live her own life.
I also think he wants to spend his future with her, but has a conflicting aspiration, and he can't have both, and this is the price. He has to give up one to have the other -
I think this song is about a guy who had a girl he was in love with and they were talking about building their future together until she ultimately dies an untimely death. "You said, you said that you would die for me (implying that she did). You must live for me too. (implying that he wants her back).
-
My interpretation is that a guy and a girl had a deep relationship, it was the sort of relationship similar to the game of 'Cat and mouse,' He loved her and the only thing he wanted is for her to love him, he wanted her to 'live for him' but her interpretation of love was to 'die for him', she died trying to save his life or something similar and he doesn't want to forget but to move on he must forget.
-
Of course this means that he is sad about the relationship he is having with his girlfriend. She said that she would die for him but that is basically an empty promise. She is being very mean and he isn't "satisfied with where he is in life".
-
I think this song is about a girl who is extremely willing to do anything for her loved one, even die. The narrator is saying that not only should she be willing to die for her, but she must realize that she needs to live for him, and that he would rather her continue living in this world instead of dying for him. His love, all he ever wanted, but it comes with a price.
-
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
-
I thought it was just the end of a relationship, they were in love, he broke it off, but now he regrets it, its as if he were saying am I supposed to be happy to her, and love is what he wanted, the price is the pain in the aftermath. He is saying he thought they were immortal, it would last forever, but now it has ended, and all the memories of them together are fading away.
-
My interpretation of this song is this guy who is in a deep relationship he truly loves this girl and she cheats on him and lies to him, and he still truly and deeply loves her! Am I supposed to be happy when all I've ever wanted it comes with a price... and the price is the cheating. He is truly happy and the price is the cheating
