For the First Time Lyrics
While I'm drinking jack all alone in my local bar,
And we don't know how,
How we got in to this mad situation,
Only doing things out frustration,
Trying to make it work but man these...

#1 top rated interpretation:This song is about the financial crisis that struck hard in ireland a couple of years ago("tryin' to make it work but man these times are hard") and how this situation affected the relationship of a young couple.
"she needs me now but i cant seem to find the time, i got a new job now in the unemployment line" this refers to the struggle to be together while they're trying to make ends meet with the money and looking for work.
"but we're gonna start by drinking old cheap bottles of wine, sit talking up all night...." followed by "...saying things we haven't for a while" this could mean that they know the times ahead are probably not going to be bright for a long time so their going to try to make it work, and they are going to start by mending their relationship first so they crack open a bottle of wine and just talk and reconnect as a couple so it'll be easier to deal with whatever is ahead.
In the process of the conversation it feels like they're getting to know eachother all over again as if they were meeting "for the first time" after many years.
"i just lost my job but didnt lose my pride..When you pick yourself up, you get kicked to the dirt, trying to make it work" this couple is trying to deal with things the best way they can in a foreign country(america) away from family and friends and only have eachother to rely on and it can feel overwhelming because just when they feel that everything is picking up, another complication happens and they get 'kicked to the dirt'.
the hard times are making them crazy but they wont give up on eachother because they will get through it together.
this song is quite encouraging and an inspirational reflection of the rags to riches story of the script that they went through before thieir massive success. in a way this song is about them and how they felt as struggling musicians. -

#2 top rated interpretation:This song is about a couple That starts going through difficulties and break up and lose connections with each other and when they finally see each other it felt like they were meeting for the first time because they acted like they didn't even know each other and than they started talking and started to fall back in love and promised never to give up on each other again.

#3 top rated interpretation:I think this song is about a couple stuggling through life, but they stop and talk and do things they haven't in a long time and the feeling they have is like they had the first time they were together. They stop and realize that their love and being together is more important than losing a job or anything else

Having been married for 17 years now, four kids later, lost everything to bankruptcy and foreclosure and having to start over again with new attempts at careers and life this song really hits me at the core. It defines so much of what my husband and I have gone through. The hard times, the laughter, discovering what really truly matters when we look at our children. To me this sound is about going through the riches or poor together and still finding love and laughter even if it means drinking $3 buck Chuck and crying a little or a lot.

It’s about a couple, who’s been struggling during the entire relationship, with both differences as a person, along the way they’re also struggling personally of what they really want in life, they are both afraid to lose each other that they didn’t notice that they’re already doing it by just trying to please each other in the absences of just being not the person they truly are, but they are aware of it and by trying to fix they’re relationship.. they needed to start again.. and know each other in a different way, more deeper this time and more open.

I believe that this song is about a couple who loved each other dearly, then grew apart, while the guy spent his nights drinking his problems away, the girl was working hard at home. Then, one day, her heart condition acts up, and he's not there for her. He comes, she gets treated, but she can no longer work. He then gets fired from his job. He tries to make things work, tries to help the girl, and be there for her, and he finally stays home with her and they feel like they meet for the first time.

Times are hard, both of them lost their jobs and now discover one another in a whole new light, with all the time they have on their hands.

I think this song is about a couple who are having trouble In Their relationship. The male on the relationship go fired and the female is very pissed off at him to he goes to the bar to get drunk, but he doesn't he come home and talks it out with his women and when its says " feels like were meeting for the first time" thy are talking and they feel like they just met

I think it's about a couple who are together and they are really struggling and they know they love each other but they when they sit and talk after a while of the problems they are going through and realize how much they really love other and to the extent they are willing to go through together
