Thrice: Image of the Invisible Meaning
Image of the Invisible Lyrics
We are the image of the invisible
Free will is ours and we can't let go
We are the image of the invisible
We can't allow this, the quiet cull
We are the image of the invisible
So we sing out this, our...

Please, I don't see them signed as a christian rock band, and plus, their music video isn't for nothing, you know. It's touching on the subject of child abduction. And the kid was taken by splinter cells, which are government agents.
I honestly don't think it was their intention to take anything from the bible.
Then again, I could be wrong. The only person who really knows the lyrics is the artists themselves. So don't say you know the true meaning, 'cause you don't.
You can voice your opinion on what YOU think the meaning is...but the only one who knows is the writer himself. -
I don't know atomixpro, because Vhiessu is full of bible references. In "For Miles" he quotes jesus and says "there's no greater love than the man who sheds his blood for his friends"...in "Moths to the Flame" the whole song is describing Judas, the disciple who betrayed Jesus. In "dust of nations" the part "don't store your treasures up with moth and rust where thieves break in and steal" is a direct quote from Jesus, so I could believe that it has to do with god, Artist in the Ambulance was mostly about the government.

Your all wrong, this song has nothing to do with god. It's about a government that is oppressing people by treating people as carbons and chemicals. They are taking away peoples' free will, so a group of rebels are taking on the government.
The lyric "we're the image of the invisible" is talking about how the rebels are fighting for the people who can't fight because they're in jail. When they say remove the cancer, they are saying remove the government that is bad. Then they say "take back your souls". They have freed the jailed people. "Raise the banner, bend back your bows is saying we're here and we're ready to attack. "We can't let this go" is saying we need to stand up for our rights. By saying "we will never walk alone" because the people inprisoned will allways be with them. Them saying that all the world hates them is because they are different, standing up for the rights of the little guy. -
It makes a biblical reference about how we are the image of God. It also says that we have free will and it can't be taken for granted.

Christ is the image of the invisible God. How can "We" be the image of the invisible? I just thought it was a catchy oxymoron ('cause the invisible doesn't have an image), but I should have known better.
"We're more than carbon and chemicals!" -- we have souls and personalities that can't be represented by our physiological make-up (I agree)
But other lines suggest something of an oppressor that might deprive of free-will and cull out certain people. The lines about "remove the cancer" and "no one can stop us", imply that everything is a choice. -

"He is the image of the invisible God..." (Col. 1: 10-20)
we have more going for us than just physiological make up, we have free will, whole bunch of religous references.
