Keep Your Eyes On Me Lyrics
-
Tim McGraw recorded this spiritual duet with his wife Faith Hill for the drama movie The Shack. The motion picture tells the story of a man who experiences a crisis of faith following the murder of his daughter, only to find it again in a shack deep in the Oregon wilderness. McGraw also plays a sympathetic neighbor in the film, as well as serving as the narrator.
McGraw also co-wrote the song, along with Faith Hill, Lori McKenna the writer of the singer's 2016 hit "Humble and Kind," and frequent Miranda Lambert and Kacey Musgraves collaborator, Shane McAnally. "I was watching the movie with Faith, because they'd asked us to write a song for it. It wasn't completely finished yet, but it was done where you could get the essence of it," McGraw told Country Countdown USA. "There must have been six parts where there were complete fall-apart moments. We walked out with some song ideas."
Although they all loved the song McGraw wasn't certain that it would become the movie's featured single. "We actually wrote a couple songs, but that was the favorite one we'd written," he explained. "That actually came from a line in the movie. There's a part where that line is spoken, and it was so powerful, and we took that and ran with it."
