If You're Reading This Lyrics
My Mommas sittin there
Looks like I only got a one way ticket over here
Sure wish I
Could give you one more kiss
And war was just a game we played when we were kids
I'm laying down my gun
I'm hanging up boots
I'm...

#1 top rated interpretation:I think the meaning of this song is fairly self explanatory. It's all about a guy that died in a war and is telling his wife via a note everything he can't tell her. He tells about how he wishes he could be there in person to kiss her and to see their baby born but he's at peace because he died fighting for what he believes in and he's at home in Heaven, and he doesn't regret it. He ends it by telling her that it's ok if she wanted to be with someone else. In conclusion, it's a good song that tells a soldiers story of love

My perspective is the idea of war and how it takes a toll on family and the person fighting in it. Hes just telling it from his perspective and showing he'll never leave his wife because he fought for something true.

To me this songs is about how you can fight in a war but you have to have something to fight for. He does pass away and he says'' I won't be there to see the birth of our little girl'' and ''I hope she looks like you.I hope she fights like me, Stand up for the innocent and the weak '' Because you never know if you will die or live when you head into wars.

I feel like this song is about awomans husband had just died in the world and he is saying I you have no need to worry I am still here. I am giving up and hanging up my boots. I will always honor and love you and you will always be safe because me and god are watching over you. Dont worry we will meet again.

This song is about a man who died in the war and is "home" in heaven. He writes a note to his wife and tells her all the things he didn't get to tell her before he was killed. He tells her he wishes he can kiss her once more and he wishes he could be there to see their newborn little girl. Then, to end it, he says it's ok if she finds someone else. I like this song.
