Dream On Lyrics
All these lines on my face getting clearer.
The past is gone.
It went by like dusk to dawn.
Isn't that the way?
Everybody's got their dues in life to pay.
Yhea'
I know nobody knows,
Where...

Not ALL songs are about drugs, BUT... stereotypically people use a mirror when they do cocaine. In fact they do "lines". When you have lines on a mirror and look into the mirror, you appear to have lines on your face. Then as you snort the lines, the lines go away or "get clearer". If you listen, you can hear him snort after he says this.
The remainder of the song can definitely support this conspiracy as well. "The past is gone" etc. -
Maybe true that don't stop me from listening to AEROSMITH

Steven wrote this song when he was seventeen. I think he wrote this while thinking about life his future and everyone expectations of what his should be. Lot of reflecttion, lot of fear of the future and what it holds in store. This can be heard through the haunting music in it.
-
When I listen to the song I think he is trying to say that getting old is part of life, don't get old and not have lived life....to live life till you die.. That's kind of why he says "Sing with me, sing for the years/Sing for the laughter 'n sing for the tears/Sing with me, if it's just for today"
-
"all these line on my face getting clearer SNORT"
listen up... I hate to say drugs but... -
The song is about how all his life he has struggled to be someone....when he says "looking in the mirror, the lines on my face getting clearer." means he's ageing and he is still nobody in the world. and keep dreaming because your dreams might come true
-
If everyone would pay attention to the snorting sound that he makes after the first set of vocals, you would understand that...yes, this song has a double meaning.
One representing the past and the dream of the future.
ENOUGH SAID!!!!!!!!1 -
All it is saying is that no matter what others say, keep your dreams because your dreams are the only thing that make life amazing.
-
This song does have undertones of the singer's former drug abuse. It's about how he comes to realize that all this time has passed while he was drowning himself in drugs and booze i.e. "the past is gone, it went by like dusk to dawn" he knows that he messed up and blames himself i.e. "everybody's got their dues in life to pay" "dream on" is basically saying that you have to move on with your life, despite what you may have done and make the most of whatever time you have left.

SING WITH ME SING FOR THE YEARS
sing for the laughter and sing for the tears
sing with me if its just for today
maybe tomorrow the good lord will take you away
it means to live life
because one day you might die
and like live it now... -
