Aerosmith: Dream On Meaning
Song Released: 1973
Covered By: Glee Cast
Dream On Lyrics
All these lines on my face getting clearer.
The past is gone.
It went by like dusk to dawn.
Isn't that the way?
Everybody's got their dues in life to pay.
Yhea'
I know nobody knows,
Where...

Good poetry is often full of double entendres so I wouldn't be surprised if he is referencing cocaine, but that's clearly not the main subject of the song. The song doesn't have a speedy feel to it - quite the opposite.
he is clearly talking about letting go of the sh#T in your past and just living it up
but more than that:
it's specifically the sh*t you went through that makes you who you are, so don't resent it:
you've got to lose to know how to win -
I agree with those of your that think the drug meaning is over-used. This song is about Tyler's desire to be someone and do something with his life. To continue to "dream until your dreams come true". Get off the drug kick, it doesn't always have to be about drugs. Tyler was 17, and wrote this song at the end of a summer as he was vacationing at his parent's lake house.

Ok this is gonna be a little hard for the guy (who said they did drugs to expand their mind) to understand. The last time I checked, people did drugs to make them feel better dip stick.

If I recall right the band was in trouble when this song came out in the 1970's, This made them great. I love this song and I think it's about Dreaming to become great like they have.
From the chorus it says
"Sing with me, sing for the years
Sing for the laughter 'n sing for the tears"
Like keep singing for a long time, through great times, and hard times.
I have some album collection of a bunch of their great songs and it briefly explains some of the songs and it says that about "Dream On." -
This song was the only one that Steven Tyler sang in his own voice...
...anyone read "Walk This Way" ?... It explains ALL their songs, so quit the monotony of -drugs this- and -drugs that-. some were, some weren't ... listen to the songs not the band.

It's about him realizing that he's getting older and time is running out. "Sing women just for today, maybe tomarow the good lord take you away" is saying to use your time on this planet wisely, because you never know when its going to end. "All these lines in my face getting clearer" is sayin that he is living up to the fact that he is getting older.

i think drugs have a big part on the song, I think he's trying to say to us that he's realizing how much drugs have affected his life and how we should live life in a better way cause you don't always get a second chance

Sorry, but I have to disagree with the last statement. When he refers to lines on his face getting clearer, he's talking about looking in the mirror and noticing he's getting older. Aerosmith writing about cocaine... get a clue.
