AJR: Next Up Forever Meaning
Song Released: 2019
Next Up Forever Lyrics
So never close them
You'll sail the ocean
Finding where you should be
And if you're broken
You'll make your own thing
You'll make it so big
For all the world to see
You'll make it so damn big
For all the world to...

My interpretation of this is about that desperate childhood dream but never achieving it and feeling like its over but the universe has greater plans

This song is about growing up and "your time to be an adult" coming. It says exactly what we feel: that we always want to be a kid who is always looking forward to something, even if we aren't at our peak because our peak is eternally "coming".

AJR talks about being afraid to release an album in the beginning of this track, clearly referring to Neotheater, the album which this song appears on. The line about wanting to be “Next up forever” repeats itself. I believe this song refers to hitting a peak as a musician, and beginning a decline in popularity from there on out. The AJR bros are very open about their struggles, as people and as musicians. This is another song to add to their unique collection of honest & open tracks.
