Asking Alexandria: Morte Et Dabo Meaning
Song Released: 2011
Morte Et Dabo Lyrics
Morte et Dabo
So he came forth and said unto me
son you are forsaken
condemned for the sins that you live
I offer you forgiveness
Bow down before me
Bow down before me
I'll never bow to he who claims to be...

I think if you look further than just a song, you find a storyline in the two albums, reckless and relentless being the result of stand up and scream. The whole time, the main character is slowly getting worse, though at some points he is realizing what hes doing, he just cant get out. In morte et dabo, the main character is angry at god for letting it all happen, for taking away his love, for making him who he is. So hes wandered away from god to the point that he now wants to take arms against god, because he has become so possessed with the demons hes played with. Pretty sure this whole battle refers to armagaedon. Totally spelled that wrong... touch up on your bible more cause it says all those who oppose god will fight him in the end, with that attitude and hate expressed in morte st dabo.
-
anybody who says its from the perspective of the devil is wrong, lmao. "bitch ill fucking find you... i know ehere you sleep" blah blah blah, first of all God is not a "bitch" people consider him a male. and 2nd God doesnt sleep so just for all you people who think its about killing God think again because i hate to break it to you but God doesnt sleep because He is God.
-
I've decided that the song is about satan's plot of revenge, but even having a song like that in my possession makes me uneasy, the song just seems so fucking evil.
-
Its from the devils point of view' him leaving heaven and telling what hes gonna do
-
The song isn't about a girl. "So he came forth and said unto me
son you are forsaken" and "
I'll never bow to he who claims to be divine" definatley doesn't sound like he's talking about a female. You can call a male a bitch. A bitch is a female dog. Not a female human. So,you have no idea what you're talking about, whoever said that. -
This song is about a man choosing to destroy everything religion has built because he sees it as a clever way of making faithful slaves and he says "your not a fucking god of mine"
-
Morte et dabo is a horrible wiring for it, due to "et" but, in my beat translation, it is "and I will give death" remember, in Latin, word order isn't as important as in english, and "dabo" is in the "I" for (or whatever it is, I used to take 2 1/2 years of Latin) and the song is about him (or lucifer or whatever the fuck) saying they'll kill god, so stop being idiots and realize that it mean "and I will give death" or "and I will kill you"
-
It is about tearing down something that posses you off. In my message I get out of it though, it makes me believe that my belief in atheism is correct and makes me not want to bow to anyone or anything. The song might be about a whore or whatever you get from it. Don't say it means one thing when it could mean something else to someone else. The meaning of the song is different for everyone. Just my opinion though.
-
The song is not about God. Even if they are atheist do you really think a human belong could think they could fight/win against a god,the lead singer also says "I know where you sleep." Unless you think God has a bed and goes nigh nigh every night, then yes he is referring to finding God when He is asleep. One last thing the singer says "Bitch" I don't know about you, but last time I checked God was/is not a girl. This song has nothing to do with a religion. It's about a girl who thinks she is divine and rules everything. (I know it's kinda cheesey)
-
This song greatly offends me and my religion brcause at the beginning god is giving him forgivness and he pretty much says fuck you i dont need you and im gonna destroy everything u worked so hard for. So this song is very offensive to me
-
I think the song is about destroying something that has great power and influence: Government, your boss, a public figure, etc. not religion. God refering to the power leader, heaven as what they control or have influence on. There are so many religions that refer to dieties as God and Lord, that most people assume it's Christianity. I'm a Christian myself, but this song doesn't affend me.
-
The title, "Morte et Dabo," means absolutely nothing.
Not in Latin at least. It translates as "dead and I will give" Dead could also be corpse, and MAYBE death, but it's a stretch. And you can't change the word order to "and I will give death" because of the placement of "et". And "dabo", obviously, is left meaning "and i will give".
So...make of it what you will. -
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
-
I agree with the lucifer point of view and what he's saying he will do, but God will destroy him and all of those who follow him, which is the funny part I find about the song.
-
Im pretty sure its about It's the story of Lucifer being cast out of heaven and his vow to destroy everything god created.
