Avenged Sevenfold: Carry On Meaning
Song Released: 2012
Carry On Lyrics
Some choose to shout when they speak and they’ll be the stars
Caught in the flame of those deep in fire
Seeking out those with a voice
One for tomorrow
They say we’ve lost our minds, we’ve just gained...

#1 top rated interpretation:Basically no matter what you must move in no matter how hard it is to but you have to be strong and carry on

To be honest Carry On sounds like a story, a story that may or may not come true given what's happened so far through the years, like for example in the lyrics, "some people live out their selfish desires" we have already seen it happen, "some people shout when they choose to speak" that has and always will happen, but the story is a group of people who see through what is really going on, they say that no matter what we all must carry on no matter what happens, like death, war, violence, diseases which I don't doubt will happen. Now I'm saying this out of context, We can never escape war, even if we do, there will be a way that people could start another war after another, whether it's over politics or even a piece of bread like seriously that could happen. But hey we could never know, this is your friendly neighborhood dude signing off.

i agree with some of your interpretations of this song carry on by avenged sevenfold.but my interpretation is that the world will go through hell because of the got damn gov. and hes saying that once this world goes through hell and back that we should hold on tight and go down with out a fight. i have a lot of problems with my family and they wont let me be me and i wish could tell them that but this song keeps me happy and builds the curage to tell them to let me. its even harder when youre in 11 grade and youre going to be 16 and you want to be you. the metal keeps me from doing the dumbest shit and killing my self for this reason. but i wont let that happen to me.

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

Ok this is not about war. just because it is on COD does not mean that they wrote the song just for the fucking game. The song is about fighting themselves in the loss of "The Rev" for whom the song was dedicated.
-
What this song means is that they are trying to move on and keep moveing on and not stop or give up

I feel he's speaking of war
"Some choose to shout when they speak they'll be the stars"
= the ones who take control will be homered and respected =
"Seeking out those with a voice
One for tomorrow" = someone must rise again and take control
But that same person was irresponsible and causes an all out Third World War or and uprising militia taking control of the government
"Silence your fear we got to move higher high like the stars in the sky"
Rise up through the ranks and control the world
"Battle the will of those who conspire"=
Fight against those who make plots to over throw the ones who created the suffering
"Search endlessly, fight 'til we're free!
Fly past the edge of the sea!
No bended knee!
No mockery!
Somehow we still carry on!"
Look for all who are hiding and fight them
Take control of the world wide issue over seas
No weakness no shame
And you will carry on -
Just a thought but with the lines,
"Some people live out selfish desires.
Some choose to shout when they speak.
They'll be a star." Maybe he's talking about playing COD? I know a lot of people choose to shout and talk shit. Just a thought. I hope that's what it's about, because that would be awesome. -
Now, I don't understand some parts of the song, but I can tell you what I think the parts that I do understand means. I think in the chorus where it says, "Search endlessly, fight till we're free. Fly past the edge of, the sea." I'm only 13 so, I might not get it as well as you do, but he might be searching for freedom and feels trapped. A song can actually have more than one meaning.
"Some say we've lost our minds, we've just gained control."
Well, I think this song has a war theme since it's the theme song for Call of Duty Blackopps 2. He might be saying that we're the more dominate country. I don't know. I gave you all I got. I know it's not much. I could be wrong. If I'm totally off, feel free to think I'm stupid.
