Avenged Sevenfold: Almost Easy Meaning
Song Released: 2007
Almost Easy Lyrics
Every single time I'm asked to compromise
'Cause I'm afraid and stuck in my ways
And that's the way it stays
So how long did I expect love to outweigh ignorance?
By that look on your face I may have forced the scale to...

#1 top rated interpretation:Ok... well first off... I bought their new cd... and I noticed there are a few words up there that aren't right which would help it make a little more sense... for example...
on this site every chorus goes as follows:
(I'm not)
Come back to me, it's almost easy
(Sad at all)
Come back again, it's almost easy
(You learned your lesson)
Come back to me, it's almost easy
(But first you fall)
Come back again, it's almost easy
but on the record... It says:
(Mother)
Come back to me, it's almost easy
(Said it all)
Come back again, it's almost easy
(You'll learn your lesson)
Come back to me, it's almost easy
(But first you fall)
Come back again, it's almost easy
so the verse on this site makes it look like it could be anything! a girlfriend, his mom, whatever...
but in the real verse... It's a lot more obvious it has to be about his bad relationship with his mom...
the rest of what he's saying is left to interpretation...
in my opinion...
"I feel insane every single time I'm asked to compromise
Cause I'm afraid, I'm stuck in my ways
And that's the way it stays"
~he realizes he needs to change if he wants things to be different between himand his mom. He's afraid of change so nothing changes... but he thinks their relationship should be getting better. He realizes that this is insanity...
which makes sense -Albert Einstein's definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
"So how long did I expect love to outweigh ignorance
By that look on your face I may force the scale to tip"
~hmm this part confuses me a little haha... my guess... He's saying his mother will always love him... but he thinks that with whatever he's done, he's gone too far this time. He knows she's not ignorant... and she hasn't been ignorant to all the bad things he's done... but instead she uses her love for him as an excuse to always forgive him and almost act like nothing's happened. but he doesn't think his mom will forgive him that easy for what he did this time.
"I'm not insane, I'm not insane
I'm not insane, I'm not...
Not insane"
~i think he's just trying to convince himself and everyone else that he's not insane... Idk...
"(Mother)
Come back to me, it's almost easy
(Said it all)
Come back again, it's almost easy"
~i think he realizes his mother is right. She wants things to go back to how they used to be... and so does he so it should be easy... but it's not easy because it's hard for him to change... So it's almost easy...
"Shame pulses through my heart
From the things I've done to you
It's hard to face, but the fact remains that
This is nothing new"
~he feels really bad for the things he's done to his mom. He doesn't want to believe that he did those things to his mom... but he knows he did and he feels guilty about it. It's nothing new and he knows it's something he's done more than once before...
"I left you bound and tied with suicidal memories
Selfish beneath the skin
But deep inside I'm not insane."
~i definitely Do Not know if this is true... Though it would be something I would like to find out... but by this verse it sounds like he's saying that he left his mom with memories of him being suicidal, and selfish... but he says that in his heart he knows that what he did was wrong even though his actions didn't show it...
same as above verses:
"I'm not insane, I'm not insane.
I'm not insane, I'm not...
Not insane."
"(I'm not)
Come back to me, it's almost easy
(Sad at all)
Come back again, it's almost easy"
"(You learned your lesson)
Come back to me, it's almost easy
(But first you fall)
Come back again, it's almost easy"
~he learned his lesson... but first he has to 'fall' or pay the consequences for what he did wrong... otherwise he would keep doing it because there's no punishment or loss for him if he does it... and it wouldn't matter if it was right or wrong.
"Now that I've lost you it kills me to say
(Hurts to say)
I try to hold on as you slowly slip away.
I'm losing the fight.
Treated you so wrong, now let me make it right.
(Make it all right)"
~he was taking what he had for granted... and now that he's losing her he finally realizes how much she really means to him. He knows he's treated her wrong so wants her to give him a second chance to make things right between them.
same as above verses:
"I'm not insane, I'm not insane. (chuckling)
I'm not insane, I'm not...
Not insane."
"(I'm not)
Come back to me, it's almost easy
(Sad at all)
Come back again, it's almost easy
(You learned your lesson)
Come back to me, it's almost easy
(But still you fall)
Come back again, it's almost easy"
so that's my full evaluation of it...
A7X rocks! :]

#2 top rated interpretation:The song is about a son's mother and when she was living him and her always had conflicts. Now that she's dead, he wishes that she never died. The irony is the titular quote, 'Almost Easy'. Nothing is 'almost' easy; it's either easy, or hard.

#3 top rated interpretation:Actually
"the Rev" (the drummer) wrote the song, so it has nothing to do with M. Shadow's life. -
I think it's about political. When people see how evil can they be, they don't want to come back to them, so it's not easy for them to convince people that they will work well.
-
in my opinion, this song is about the devil(watch the video) and his plans of drawing people away from god and into sin because it's easy to lie but you never get into more trouble for telling the truth.

To me this song sounds as if the Devil himself is speaking saying to those who try and follow God ..."Come back to me it's almost easy..." "How long did I expect love to out weigh ignorance?" Sounds as if he calling God "ignorant" ....It's not too far fetched when you cross reference the actual Music Video with these thoughts...people walking towards a fiery hole in the ground and falling in as their faces transform into "demon" faces so to speak. "I'm losing the fight so try to hold on..." The devil soon to be destroyed and wanting to keep hold of those blinded whom he wants to be destroyed along with him.. these are just some of the things I've picked out of this song

This song talks about feeling insane when we hurt someone we love even if we don't want (Shame pulses through my heart
From the things I've done to you
It's hard to face, but the fact remains
This is nothing new)
In the bridge he ask the person he hurted to forgive him but things after all are not gonna change because of his duality between loving and hurting. -
People that say its about matts GF that died, it never happened shes still alive, and they even said the video has almost nothing to do with the song, they saw a wendy's commercial of a bunch of people running to a giant hamburger and that it would look cool haha
-
I went to a concert on september the 14th and heard this song. It sounded just like the rock am ring 2011 one.
-
"And lyrically it's about people mess up a lot in their life, they fuck up all the time, and sometimes it's easy to forgive those people and sometimes it's not. You know it's always easy to say you're forgiven, but deep in your heart you don't really want to forgive that person cause it's almost easy because "Almost Easy" is the catch phrase. It's almost easy to just say okay you're forgiven, or it's almost easy just to let go or it's almost easy just to give up" - M Shadows
-
I think this song is about someone losing their mother.
The lyrics state...
(Mother)
Come back to me, it's almost easy
(Said it all)
Come back again, it's almost easy
Shame pulses through my heart
From the things I've done to you
It's hard to face, but the fact remains
That this is nothing new
This person feels wrong for treating his mothert wrongfully and wishes for her to return to him, it's "Almost Easy" -
Alright so it says I'm not insane, I'm not insane, I'm not, not insane so he's saying he's going insane..
-
I think its about being addicted to something and no matter how far you go its going to be there with you telling to to come back and it'll be far easier to just go back to it instead of fighting the temptations.
-
I always thought it was about a relationship in which someone always disappointed themselves and another. Who that may be is up to opinion. Could be parents a friend or a mate. I personally thought he might be talking to god. Now before anyone gets riled up about A7X having anything to do with religion. Keep in mind that this definitely wouldn't be a first. A huge portion of their songs are. Even their name is based on the bible.

If you watch A7X MVD making the record. M.Shadows tells you the meaning of the song. . .
-
Oh and to my previous statement Avenged Sevenfold MVD comment.
The video for Almost Easy came from the guys seeing a Wendy's advert... soooo -
If anyone has watched Avenged Sevenfold MVD 'making the record' it shows M.Shadows talking about the song and saying, "It's almost easy to say you forgive someone, when deep in your heart you don't want to," Yes The Rev wrote the song, but obviously the band always discuss lyrics and stuff.
I personally think it means, that they've lost/hurt someone in their life, be it friendship, relationship etc. The person singing the song, wants them back in their life, but it's not that easy. I.e Almost easy. -
I'd say it's that he had a bad relationship with his mom, but then she died. so its "almost" easy because its impossible, so it really isnt easy. like he wishes it was easy.
