Second Heartbeat Lyrics

We keep writing, talking and planning, but everything's changing.
We all know what to do but no one does it.
Now this time has passed and full of regret.
Two in my heart have left me a while, I stand alone.
When they get back, it won't be the...

It’s about losing a best friend.(or friends) NOT ABOUT LOSING PARENTS OR A GIRLFRIEND!!!!
He talks about good times in the past and once lived as friends.
You don’t live trough a childhood with a girlfriend. You do that with friends.
And it’s not about dead parents, because you don’t write and talk to your dead parents.
His soul companion also refers to a best friend.

When you say goodbye to a best friend, you promise to each other that you will write letters, keep talking to each other occasionally and that you make plans to meet each other once again. But everybody knows that never happens.
    No one does it.
Now this time has passed and it’s full of regrets, because they’ve never seen each other again.

Two in my heart have left me.
Refers to another friend who he ‘d lost.
When they get back, it won’t be the same because everyone has changed.
He is really devastated about losing this friend, because he was always in the singers life.
It makes his head spin when he thinks about all the things they left in the past.
Moving on ‘your time’ has run out: Your time is actually his time spend with the friend.
The only way he would be able to spend time with his friend again would be to freeze time. Stopping the world around them, stopping it from changing them.

The fact that he is singing about multiple friends is enhanced by him saying: ‘The ones who I confide’ and not ‘the one’.
But he continues to sing about this one friend, his best friend.
Growing I looked to you in guidance:
When growing up, he gave his friend guidance or received guidance.
We knew that time would kill us: means that he knew that they would grow apart.
But you’re still so close to me: means that he’s still very dear to him.

The rest of the song doesn’t really need an explanation if you just keep in mind that the singer lost his friend.
At the end he wishes that his friends would be back with him and that they would go back to the past and that everything would be the same as it used to be. Just having a good carefree time.

    Anekdote.
I met one of my best friends of high school today and it just felt so different. It was as if we didn’t even knew each other anymore, because we hadn’t spoken for so long. And I also knew that it will never be the same. He felt so close to me and yet so far away. Now I regret that I didn’t keep contact with my high school friends. I could sing this song over and over again, cause I really miss my best friends of high school.

Plain and simple, this song is about the narrators parents dying. The first 2 lyrics are about growing up and having to plan out your life and about how your loved ones may not accept what you want to do in your life. Then when you followed your passion, your loved ones die. The narrator worries that the loose ends of his relationships were never tied up. In the end, he just wants to go back to when he may have been the most happy he will ever be.

This song is deticated to the death of a close person to the singer, and also about how another close friend turned away from him for a long time, most likely a breakup. He says they make plans, they write, but nothing ever goes anywhere, and as all this is happening, time is passing....alot of time, and this is his way of expressing how he feels, he also screams come back near the end. He regrets over how he could've changed everything that could've happend, but says the ones he confides were gone in the black of the night, meaning either dead or no longer in touch with him. I think this song is really nice, really great vocals at the end, and then that almost impossible solo to play at the end.

Me and my brother. He is dead I'm still here.Had a wonderful family and childhood he died of a overdose. The tragic events that unfolded.the ones I looked to confide as family Don't care, lost, like most.Gone in the night. How something so great goes so dark..When you get social media get all the bc out of your life and finally just sit back to see the world as it is you will see though different eyes like me. Many can agree you feel the world was not to end up this way.and when you see it you will see the horrors of it as well become like a outsider. Like for me my brothers death woke me up. he woke me up. That's my view of this song but no one is wrong with what they think.

It’s beautifully written because it can be taken many different ways. I think it’s about getting a band together or some other dream with your childhood friends, but never actually doing it. Excited talking and writing and planning, but nobody does anything. Now this time has passed and we aren’t the same because they all grew apart, and he is full of regret never had acting on their dreams. If they could go back and do it again, they would, but you can’t so regrets for the rest of his life. Childhood friends grow up and feel like they are gone in the black of the night, adult life makes your head spin

There is no one meaning to a song, it's howeveryou place it into your life and however you emotionally connect to it. There's no point in arguing over it because no one is right and no one is wrong, and no one will change their mindset on how this amazing song impacts their life.

Basically, the lyrics are about a man who's best friend died and he is struggling to deal with this fact because he grew so close to his friend (To me you were my life. To me you were my soul companion.). It's so difficult for this man to deal with the loss of someone so close, that he wastes so much time thinking about it and regrets every second of time lost (We all know what to do but no one does it. Now this time has passed and full of regret.). The relevance this song has is the fact that many of us waste time for various reasons and regret it. Everything changes because time is passing, not necessarily because of what happens around the world. It may be hard for someone to catch up with their feelings and being able to move on, so they are allowed to take their time to catch up with life. However, time will never stop and wait for one to catch up with emotions, it just keeps going. Thus, everything is changing because time is passing and the regrets come from knowing someone wasted their time trying to catch up while the passage of time and life moves on.

    my interpretation was like this:
its not about a break up. its not about dying. its about making decisions. You may be in a situation where you answer it quickly without thinking about it, but when you think about it just a second later, or the second heartbeat later, you may see the situation differently or act differently.
the chorus "the ones who i confide // were caught in the black of the night" is referring to the people the narrator trusted or cared about affected by said narrator's poor decision

This song in my opinion, is about a breakup, but not just any break up. A breakup where the girl broke up with the guy without the guy knowing why. I believe this because I can relate with the song.
" two in my heart have left me a while, I stand alone. When they get back, it won't be the same"
He states that the girl he loves dearly, leaves him standing alone wondering what he did wrong. And when she comes back later on realizing that he was the one for her, he won't forgive her and will never see her as the same person.
"we knew time would kill us, but your still so close to me"
He says that he knew their relationship wouldn't stay the same forever, but he still loves her and doesn't want her to leave.
" to me you were my life. To me you were my soul companion"
He says that she was his one true love and that no matter how much they both change, he wanted to be with her forever.

That's my opinion. But no matter what the true meaning, it's a very powerful song.
