Strength of the World Lyrics

My story starts the day they said she can't be found
the news so dark, heart stopped, I stood silent without a sound
It's over, she's finished, mother lies with my father and sister too
Cold-blooded, they suffered, shot down by the outlaws...

Let's get it straight.... it's loosely based on True Grit k!!! Think about it, she survived and engaging with her conscious is killing her chance, the hardened steel and blood institutes old west categorically.

I agree with the overall subject matter being about vengeance and the immediate temptation to avoid grieving in a healthy way by placing all of your emphasis on avenging them. However, I've long wondered if this song is based on an old movie because of the overt Western feel this song impresses upon the listener.

It's about the death of one's family. The "outlaws" were after the main character but killed their whole family. The main character comes home to this and sets to avenge their death no matter the cost. Now this song has some religious factors in it such as when it says "I can't turn my cheek away." You're supposed to forgive under Christian view points but the main character can't. Can't turn away from the death of their family. The main character also says they'll sin when they have too. Over all the whole story is about revenge.

Does anyone else think that this matches the story of Ezio Auditore and how his family was killed. After that happened, he promised to avenge his family and kill everyone responsible for their deaths and anyone who tries to get in his way of vengeance. That's just my theory.

It's clearly about the comic book character The Punisher.

I think it's just about when you can't go after after someone directly, you go after everyone they care about.

And then having the strength of the world to avenge that.

I do agree with the person below me however I would like to make one adjustment. If you listen to the whole song at the very end you hear "that's all she wrote". Now perhaps this could be the mans, that the person below me is talking, wife but to me this makes me think that it is not a man but a woman who is avenging the death of her father, sister and mother.

If you've seen the first Punisher movie with Thomas Jane, I think you will see that this song follows the plot of the movie perfectly. It may not be based on the Punisher, but every time I hear this song, I see that movie in my head.

It's about a man who's entire family is killed by outlaws who's actual target was him..."shot down by the outlaws after you"...and how he feels as if he has the strength of the entire world with him as he goes for revenge against the men responsible, which would be the reason for the name..."strength of the world". :)
