Avenged Sevenfold: Unholy Confessions Meaning
Song Released: 2004
Unholy Confessions Lyrics
"Try not to lose you."
Two vibrant hearts could change.
Nothing tears the being more than deception,
unmasked fear.
"I'll be here waiting" tested and secure.
Nothing hurts my world,
just affects...

#1 top rated interpretation:Here is my interpretation.
Okay, so Matt Shadows (Sanders), the singer, admits that a lot of the band's songs are based on religion. He also said that the band is not trying to force anything down people's throats and it's for the listener to decide on the meaning behind the lyrics and also which side to take if there is a side. So let's start with the name.
Unholy Confessions:
This could mean a lot of things. One can say that it has to do with a relationship and that one confessed to the other either their sins and affairs, or it could be a confession of their true yet sad and cold feelings for the other. But it could also have to deal with someone trying to be pure of heart and repenting not just for the sake of themselves but for the sake of others.
Another thing is this part of the song:
"I wish I could be the one, the one who won't care at all. But being the one on the stand, I know the way to go, no one's guiding me. When times soaked in blood turns its back, I know it's hard to fall. Confided in me was your heart...I know it's hurting you, but it's killing me!"
Okay, so there's a lot here. It could be talking about a leader or a lover or just both. He wants to let things go and be care-free of problems of the world but also knows that since he is the leader and "the one on the stand" he has to do something. "When times soaked in blood turns its back, I know it's hard to fall." This can mean that when times are good and order takes over, things aren't so easily disrupted. (This phrase in the lyrics is tricky to deal with so cut me some slack.) For "confided in me..." I think it could deal with a lover who's partner betrayed him. But it could also mean a leader was confident with his people's heart for him and for their heart for each other, and when times are bad, they point fingers and lose faith instead of sticking together. It's hurting the people but it's killing the leader.
Here's where the religion comes in and ties together with the "leader" character. "When sin's deep in my blood, you'll be the one to fall!" This can reflect a person with a conscience and offers up to God as a sacrifice his confessions of his most shameful and terrible sins so that others can benefit. This can be a form of prayer in the Catholic Church. Or it could be that a person decides not to sin with the drive being that they want something good to happen out of not sinning and to offer up their temptations as a sacrifice to better others. So when sin is in this sacrificial leader's blood, it could be others that suffer or continue to suffer because of it. (He also mentions salvation in the song but I won't get into that.)
I don't know what the bands main idea was behind this song but it's definitely a favorite of mine from my favorite band, A7X. You're all probably thinking I have no life for writing so much, but I've been listening to this song for years and this is what I've found in it. Thanks for reading my interpretation. -
My interruption of unholy confessions is completely different than anything I've read. First, I think the guy was in love or infatuated with a girl he'd had a deep friendship or relationship with. Broke up and remained that fall back guy. Last one on her list she called. I think she may have had a drug problem or found out she had Aids from being a prostitute. She confided in him being that guy who always loved her and she told him from her heart, needing that friend fallback guy, that was only friend zone for her. Not cool enough or not enough money. That all ran out, she went to him and he said, confiding in me was your heart but it's killing me. He knows now, he won't ever have her. Her time soaked blood turnes it's back is why she went running to him but he wasn't good enough before. So he's broken but she will be the one to fall. Not him. She put him on the stand to see if he really loved her like he did and
the way his love had always been.. She's a whore. Unholy confession, her Unholyness is the reason she confessed to him. He's sitting there tested and secure. Thankfully he wasn't good enough to catch that shit from her. But he's not that jerk guy. He was always there waiting for her. He was on the stand, Noone guiding him, he knows which way to go.He always cared and he always will, understanding that it's hard to fall. He was pissed that the thought he could have it. Like she was choking the life out of him with her bare hands but tested and secure she will be the one to fall. Just my thoughts on these deep lyrics. -
This song could be about The Couple's once good and happy relationship turned towards ''Unholy Confessions'' believed one with the other committed sin. This belief is from their religious or their religion point of view. As once experienced by the Roman Catholic Church with the involement of raising radical Islam. To compare of what can happen to one being raised a radical Catholic Je[w]suit that got involved or fell in love with an Islamist sharia law believer. Where both had/have similar ideas of their shared ideology beliefs. But when the going got tough within their hard headed relationship, one usually has to be sacrificed, or anotherwords let go. Unless somehow they would stay together and join forces against their enemy of sin. But the thing is if they don't know who the enemy is, they could be fighting forces against the Christian and the Jewish believer of the one God.

I Believe that this song is about a failing relationship or one that has failed.
The Protagonist is hurt by the events of the breakup and he wants his girlfriend (the antagonist) to feel the way that he feels. although, he knows that it is not right he needs to because the pain is killing him.
there could be deeper meaning to the lyrics but that is what i took from it. btw, this was the song that got me into a7x. -
My Interpretation is that the song is about two in-depth lovers, but she is not fully content with the relationship and decides to find a more fulfilling partner or experience life more, maybe naïve but kind of expects him to be still there after if it doesn't work out.
He knows what he has to do, but wishes he doesn't care for her so much. Which is to either move on or also "Cheat" during this "trail and error time". even though he doesn't want too. He doesn't want to let her go but waiting is not an option either!!
The THOUGHT is once he gets over her it will be too late for her to come back into his life cos he loves another...... but he really loves her and is scared to love another.... -
I think this song is very similar to 'after life'. Except he wants to break up with the person. It has nothing to do with religion.
-
The song is about two people who are deeply in love but the guy finds out his girl is cheating and he is too.. Hints " I know the way to go, no ones guiding me."

I'm not religious so from what I know, it's about a couple that are mad at each other, and he wishes he could just move on and don't care [ " I wish I could be the one, the one who won't care at all... " ]
and " Confided in me was your heart, I know it's hurting you, but it's killing me " means that she trusted him to not hurt her, but he has to, even though it kills him, so he can move on and forget about her...
"When sin's deep in my blood, you'll be the one to fall" and "Nothing hurts my world, just affects the ones around me" Mean that he would do anything and it wouldn't hurt him at all, but it will affect the people around him, friends family etc, that's why he wishes he could "Be the one who won't care at all.."
"Nothing will last in this life, we spend our time constructing, now you're perfecting a world meant to sin"
Means that well nothing gold can stay, even though he thought he loved her it ended up being lust, a deadly sin [religious]
That's my Interpretation -

It's about a guy and a girl who have been driven apart and are now moving on without one another. Its killing him(referred in the lyrics) and he wish that he could forget about her and not care.

This song seems to be about a couple who love each other deeply but are angry at each other. They also hope they can overcome these problems. "two vibrants hearts could change". The chorus refers to him not wanting to care about her "I wish I could be the one, the one who won't care at all" and "I know its hurting you but it's killin me".
