To me it's about a relationship he wanted to work so badly that he tried everything and possibly even acting obsessive.
In the end though it was one-sided.' But when our colors mixed, we couldn't fix, the way they wouln't blend' meaning he tried hard to get this person to love him deeply, but he could not make her love him.You can't force someone to have feelings for you, after all.
