Breaking Benjamin: Rain Meaning
Song Released: 2005
Rain Lyrics
It'll be the last
Not a dollar or a crowd
Could ever keep me here
I don't have a past
I just have a chance
Not a family or honest plea
Remains to say
Rain, rain, go away
Come again another day
All the world is...

#1 top rated interpretation:Rain is symbolic for the depression he's feeling. He just wants it to go away.

You're all idiots, this song is very clear when you actually begin to look at it properly. Its about feeling depressed and wishing for the rain (depression) to go away.
-
Hi guys. Every one are looking at this song with a painful angles. But is it rain him self singing a song. Because every one is asking to go away. But if rain go away forever what will happen next.
Rain is by default crying so crying is his happyness. So never allowed to be sad.
Even the kid song asking rain to go away. So rain is singing a reply for them. This isJust my idea. It can be wrong too.

I think the lyrics mean he wants drugs in his life to go away as bad refearing to rain so when Ben say "Rain, rain go away" he is trying to say get drugs away from me and take them away. And when Ben says "Take the photograph, it will be the last" he is saying im going to take drugs and this might be the last time you see me.

This song is about coming of Yeshua the Messiah. He will cast out darkness and the work of Satan. All the depression will be lifted.
To lie here under YHWH is all that anyone can ever do. Trusting that He will see us through to the end. And HE WILL! He doesn't break promises.
All Praise be to Yah! -
I believe this song is about depression and the struggle with knowing if he did commit suicide no one would care/stop him. And all he wants is for his rain or depression to go away. The is so depressing because i can relate to it so well.
-
I think that he really doesn't like rain- he probably lives in Seattle and wants to kill himself
-
I think that in the 1st verse, he just wants to leave everything nd start anew. But he knows that if he were to try to commit suicide, nobody would stop him. The chorus is the depression nd problems (rain) nd he just wants them to go away so he can be happy. The 2nd verse, I think he's questioning whether he really loves this girl. "To lie here under you" part I think is saying that he can't be happy. All he can do is lye under the rain (depression).
-
i think it's about someone with a screwed up life and he's depressed. he refers to his depression as rain and he doesen't want to be depressed anymore (rain, rain go away)
-
i think the song is simply about surviving... waiting for the day when lifes troubles wont get in the way. the rain symbolizes all the pains and struggles of life while the sun is happyness. "all thw world is waiting for the sun" or we all just want to be happy. i wouldn't say it's about suicide because it says "i dont have a past i just have a chance" in other words putting the past behind you and just looking to tomarow. the song really just talks about the strugle of life but not giving up because there is a chance to make a better life
-
I think this song has more of a religious meaning, pardon me if this seems too touchy to say at all... I mean the whole time he is singing about how he has nothing left, nothing anymore, which you can see as having no faith, but then he starts to realize that he's stuck in this situation. He sings "rain, rain go away" which you can interpret as Satan, and wanting his influence to leave... When he talks about the sun coming out, he could most definately be speaking about God, coming back into his life. So when he says, "to lie here under you is all i can do" this might be as in, he's laying under God... That's my take :)

I think this song is about being stuck in a place or a situation that he doesn't want to be in. He feels like no one really cares about what he wants and just wants him to do what they want "Not a family or honest plea remains to say" , and he feels that the world has more to offer if he leaves for a new start, "I dont have a past, I just have the chance". "to lie here under you, is all that I could ever do" could be referring to being under someone, never being able to stand up for himself because he feels small.
He feels alone and feels stuck so is maybe turning to suicide to get out, but really just wants to be free and start new somewhere better, but cant really see the light. -
personaly I think that he talking about starting a new life because of the pain and humiliation(rain) he has felt over the years and he wants it to go away but he knows it never will. When he refurs to "all the world is waiting for the sun" I think that he is talking about how everybody has a secret that they are a shamed of and they want it to go away.

I think the guy is facing some real problems in his life and in his relationship with his girlfriend (the rain) and he is just fed up. He is sick of it all and just wants out (not a dollar or a crowd could ever keep me here), he wonders if he really love his girl and his life or if he just wants someone (is it you I want, etc.) and the whole time he is just wishing that it were all over, that the pain, the frustration, the tediousness of grief would just go away.
Then in the bridge he realises that he really does love his girlfriend, that there is nowhere else he would rather be than with her (to lie here under you is all I could ever do) and that everything else will be alright. That there will be sunshine again (all the world is waiting for the sun),
