Bruno Mars: Uptown Funk Meaning
Uptown Funk Lyrics
That white gold.
This one for them hood.
Them good girls.
Straight masterpeices.
Stylin' while in.
Livin' it up in this city.
Got chucks on with Saint Laurent.
Got to kiss myself I'm so...

Hey kiddos.
A song and dance featuring a dandy.
A dandy is not a sissy, nor effeminate. A dandy is a male dressing fashionably and strutting and walking around looking and feeling good about himself for no reason other than self-fulfillment. Dandies may be heterosexual, homosexual, or bisexual, etc., but the term dandy is exclusively for males and never females.
Funk does not mean fuck. Funk has traditional meanings such as depression, foul odors, and depressive expressions, such as in soul (black, African American) dance.
The word funk in Ronson's video is apt in the John Lennon sense towards music lyrics, words together that make it.
The girl at the start is scowled away, she's not pursued. This is males enjoying themselves, without women.
The term dandy, which is the forerunner of the term Dapper Dan (the pommade was named for),
is American, but may have roots in the south of France.
As far as Mark Ronson's video, there may be coincidences between a dandy and Ronson's artistic intent....irregardless, the Goals are the Same, the men in the video are enjoying themselves for themselves, gussied up and walking around, or dancing, as the case may be.

Uptown funk up, uptown funk you up, uptown funk you up, uptown funk you up, uptown funk you up, uptown funk you up, uptown funk you up, uptown funk you up!
Not just any kind of entertainment but creme-de-la-crem, quality, going Uptown, to the Ritzi, to perform! The kind that will make yes, even Michelle Phifer, lose it, and diamond league, white platinum gold, sizzling hot will make your feet move no matter how boogie you might be! Sexy, freaky, jump on it, you know who you are; whatever your designer preference, you will move to this funky beat and love it! You will remember my name because Uptown Funk, gone give it to you on Saturday night; we will be in the spotlight, and if you don't believe me - just watch! When we show up, we are gonna show out! Even if we are from Watts, Harlem, Hollywood, or Jackson, Missippi when we show up, we are going to show out and start a fire for sure, so get ready, call the police, and the fireman, make Godzilla (the dragon want to retire) man. You won't be able to hold back. You will be in the funk! We gone yall, pour me a drink and sign the check, sliding out in the stretch limousine, and leave the rich girls singing Hallelujah! -
I think this song is about being the funk to be like funky music but it makes more sense, but we wrote with Bruno and mark. But mark wrote with lady Gaga. But we like him the best. And so me and Bruno took the side and do vocal arrangements, and mark will do the same thing as Ben. Then we can have same pages.

This Section references a Funk/soul/r&B band from America called The Gap Band. They were around in the 70's and 80's which was an era that hugely inspired Bruno Mars. The Funk/soul/r&B genre fits the song genre aswell as the ideas within the song about music allowing everyone to have a good time. -

Funk refers to a funk song (I looked it up) so he's saying to get into the groove. He also keeps saying he's hot and something about girls, so he is also flirting with them.
-
"Uptown Funk" is Mark Ronson's song, not Bruno Mars'.
-
"Funk" means fuck, so he saying he wants to have sex with her. He also says he's so hot, and he'll do it with her on Saturday night, and don't be shy to show him what she's got.
