Locked Out of Heaven Lyrics
Oh yeah yeah
Oh yeah yeah yeah
Ooh!
Oh yeah yeah
Oh yeah yeah yeah
Ooh!
Never had much faith in love or miracles
Never wanna put my heart on the line
But swimming in your water is something spiritual
I'm...

#1 top rated interpretation:I totally agree.
This song feels to me like he's met someone he connects with so much, and because of these intense emotions, he loves to make love to her ~ it's not an act, it's an event. They connect, they can't get enough of each other, and he can't get enough of sharing a piece of heaven with her, whether it be physically or emotionally.
When he compares his feelings for her to other relationships, it feels like he shares heaven with her every time they are together, every time they make love they share something he's never felt before. There is a difference between making love and having "sex". In some dysfunctional relationships, someone punishes the other by denying or controlling sex, or maybe someone feels like the other person doesn't enjoy it and is doing it to fulfill a need or a sense of responsibility. Making love is amazing when you both feel so much for each other ~ there no longer exists a barrier between men and women. Women want to make love just as much as a men.
He's met someone that he connects with and loves to "make love" to. "Making love" to someone, who means so much to you, is the closest to heaven that you can feel...you share a moment in heaven together. You are not embarrassed or inhibited or ever feel like you aren't wanted by the other. You both want, crave and ache to feel each other, please each other, and become as close as you can to one another.
"Never had much faith in love or miracles...Never want to put my heart on the line"...he's been hurt before and doesn't want to hurt again. But he's met someone that he loves so much, that he's willing to let down his guard and what he feels is amazing.
"Swimming in your water is something spiritual"...ahh...the sexual meaning should be obvious :), but even being with her, sharing life, makes him so happy...
"Open up your gates cause I can't wait to see the light"...again, the sexual meaning is obvious :)...but when you think about being vulnerable, completely open with your emotion, and truly loving someone? Open up your gates, is your guard...being vulnerable, open and loving completely. -

#3 top rated interpretation:To me this song is about a newer relationship that has a deep emotional connection with a women who is compassionate, loving, and guinuinely cares about this man. She is like truth and a light in his life. She shares heavenly truths with this man who has never experienced such and emotional and spiritual connection with a women. As far as the sexual relationship, either they have just began the sexual relationship and he feels this strong emotional spiritual connection during sex or he dreams of how the sex would be if they took their relationship to that place. Locked out of heaven refers to him never experiencing a sexual relationship that had spiritual roots before this relationship. It's almost like this women cares about his soul, wanting to help him find peace and he never wants to leave this place.

He's a sex addict and to him sex is like heaven or paradise and his gf or whatever hasn't f*cked with him in a long time so he feels locked out of heaven.I
Bruno Mars is just weird for writing a song about being a sex addict and being locked out of heaven(sex) -
i used to listen to this song and really liked it but when i searched the lyrics i face-palmed (am not a native english speaker and usually try to avoid paying attention to lyrics to prevent the disappointment afterwards)
i mean... seriously why ruin such a good melody? dude i just want to enjoy the music not the details of your sexual relationship! -

He was addicted to sex. And with Bruno mars being Christian it’s saying since he is addicted to sex he is being locked out of heaven cause of his actions and the lyrics “you make a sinner change his ways, open up your gates ‘cause I can’t wait to see the light. God can make a sinner change his ways. God can open up the gates of heaven to a sinner. He can’t wait to see the lift he can’t wait to see GOD. It’s a sinner addicted to sex and it’s like paradise to him but even tho that’s happens even tho he sines god can change him into a good person, stop him from being addicted to sineing having sex. He can open those gates to heaven which have been closed to him

I have read all the reviews and just want to say some of you should not be allowed to procreate. If you disagree, you are on that list.

He was foreshadowing the coming of paradise palms in Fortnite ten years later, this confirmed the rumours of him having an of FB the books contract with epic games corporation, suggesting a sum of 7+ figures may have been transferred, hopefully we can see him in the item shop soon!

You guys all seem to think this is about sex however…
“For too lo oo oo ong” = 420
Therefore this song is actually about smoking weed. -
Well when it says I’m not when ever you spend the night what I think it means is that when ever who he sees he can just stop looking at that special person and just falls in love with the same person over and over again
-
His love is somewhere else if she was not somewhere else he would be locked in heaven and if she’s somewhere else he would be locked out of heaven. Correct?

“Never had much faith in love or miracles (miracles) uh!
Never wanna put my heart on the line, uh!”
— He is saying that he has never believed in love before. Referring to romantic love and emotional intimacy. Due to this lack of faith and disbelief he has always been hesitant to let his guards down and fall in love in the past. He begins this song by defining love as a religion.
“But swimming in your water is something spiritual (spiritual) uh!
I'm born again every time you spend the night, uh!”
— In both lines above he is clearly talking about physical/ sexual intimacy. But there is depth to the sexual relationship he shares with the individual he is singing about. This could be a stretch, but.. his reference to water and rebirth is reminiscent of Christian baptism. In the Christianity when an individual joins the faith there is a ceremony that involves water to wash away sin.
Bruno is saying that when he is romantically involved with the individual this song is about, his sins of acting in opposition to love, and sins of disbelief in love(love as a religion) are wiped away because being with her is a form of baptism into new life. The individual he is involved with makes him a believer of love.
“'Cause your sex takes me to paradise
Yeah your sex takes me to paradise
And it shows, yeah, yeah, yeah
'Cause you make me feel like, I've been locked out of heaven
For too long, for too long”
— Sinners are locked out of heaven. To regain access one must repent and be baptized. He’s referring to his “love making” with the individual whom this song is about as a form of baptism. Because his relationship with the individual causes him to firmly believe in love he realizes that when he was “locked out of Heaven” when he didn’t have faith in love.
“You bring me to my knees
You make me testify, uh!
You can make a sinner change his ways, uh!”
— Being sexually and romantically intimate is a way of practicing the religion he defines. He becomes a believer of love when he is sexually intimate with the individual he is singing about, because he considers it an act of love.
“Open up your gates 'cause I can't wait to see the light, uh!
And right there is where I wanna stay, uh!”
— He enjoys making love with the person that this song is about.
He is in love.
“Can I just stay here?
Spend the rest of my days here?”
He wants to spend his life with the person that this song is about. It is a love song, a very sexual love song.

He is singing about his number 69 GF Nessie .

The analogy between earthly desires -sex, and the spiritual side of life is prevalent. Its easy to see the obvious - the lyrics talk about physcial relationships, its failure and success and wanting to keep it good hence the sex and wishing/wanting to stay in this state. But reading through the words you’ll see that there’s more to this than just about earthly desires. Spiritually, you’re locked out of heaven because you chose your earthly desires. Wake up people!
