Cage the Elephant: Sell Yourself Meaning
Sell Yourself Lyrics
Got this scalpel in my hand, I’m operating on this riddle
Got my tongue all tied in knots, on my forehead placed a label
Took all my inspiration, carved your name into the...

#1 top rated interpretation:Its about how they have refused the offer from the illuminati, if you listen to some of their other songs you can see this. For example take a listen to "around my head" he says "I've got these feelings that I can't seem to get away from, you will never hear it but you will find it falling of my tounge" when he says that he is talking about how he can't tell you about the illuminati but in his songs he can't help but bring it up without you noticing. Sell yourself is all about how the illuminati offered them money and fame to sell themselfs to the devil. In "around my head" you hear them say they took the long road down instead of giving into temptations.

It means they sold out, but regret doing it. Too late for apologies fellas. Once in, you can't get out alive.
-
they're on the same label as Chris BROWN,Kelly Clarkson, Pitbull, etc. Look it up "RCA Records". I think they sold out guys, I wish they didn't

You really don't know what you're talking about. Sell yourself is about the industry trying to get you to....... sell yourself. He's a right brain eater???? Also, the lyric "they say the devil is my pal, I do a lot of drugs" is saying that people assume that he's anti-god, a druggy, or "devilish" because of the lifestyle that he's in. And by the way, that is the sound they wanted. I know them personally.

Cage the Elephant is illuminati, the only valid argument I need the tattoo on left arm of Lincoln Parish... It's an eye with a triangle and the song 'In One Ear' he goes like 'they say the devil is my pal.' Cage the Elephant is a great band but don't get me wrong, they definitely illuminati.

The song is about staying true to who you are and what you want, despite pressures from other people and society.
-
Its about how the sold out to their new label and some songs aren't really what they wanted but what the label wanted
