Cage the Elephant: Telescope Meaning
Telescope Lyrics
Inside my telescope I see
A pair of eyes peer back at me
He walks and talks and looks like me
Sits around inside his house
From room to room he moves about
Fills his life with pointless things
And wonders how it...

This song is talking about isolating yourself from everyone else and feeling lost while looking for who you are. It seems like he's explaining that he's somewhat self-destructive. Like, he isn't doing anything with his life because he's scared or 'dependent' but in the end he's just confused on why he's so alone. It's almost like he's running away from everything and is wondering why no one is running after him. If that makes sense...
"he walks and talks and looks like me"
(he's talking about himself)
"Afraid of what the truth might bring. He locks his doors and never leaves."
"there's nowhere else to turn, walls keep breaking."
"He battens all the hatches down. And wonders why he hears no sound."
