Songs about Youth Culture
Because something is happening here, but you don't know what it is, do you, Mr. Jones? Every generation has its anthems to rally around. And even though each generation feels that its songs are uniquely their own, listen to a youth culture ballad from the '60s, '80s, and 2000s and you'll notice that they're more alike than they'd like to admit.
Still, these songs are essential. It's good for your psychological health to rebel in your early 20s; it helps define your identity. If a group of youth forms a collective culture, they develop core ideals that translate - more or less - into a hope for a better tomorrow. We could all use that, couldn't we?
