Fleetwood Mac: Seven Wonders Meaning
Song Released: 1987
Seven Wonders Lyrics
Certain place
Certain time
You touched my hand
On the way
On the way down to Emmiline
But if our paths never cross
Well you know I'm sorry but
If I live to see the seven wonders
I'll make a path to the rainbow's end
I'll...

I connected pretty deeply with this song during the end of a relationship. It was a great relationship and it ended over a drawn out period where neither one of us could be brave to admit what it was we really needed, our of fear of hurting each other.
In the track, the lyrics make it apparent that while both parties still feel very deeply connected/care for one another, there’s a resignation that they both need to take separate paths on their journey forward. They won’t be together again, and things may not be the same when they see each other down the road, but there’s a hope (maybe a faith) that they will be connected again at another time - in whatever way that may be. Is it a friendship? A twin flame? Who can know. Only time. The lyrics speak to a deep respect for the history of what the couple have been through, and how they felt at the start - maybe things changed in what they needed next, but the depth of what they feel hasn’t really greyed out,
I find the lyrics a bit haunting when you consider the storyline of the song. For example, the bittersweet feelings in a situation, where you may want the very best for the other (as well as yourself), but to give/get that, both parties need to let go and accept that some degree of grief for the things you’ll never have again, like togetherness, but the sweet in the bittersweet is also wonder for the change ahead.
This isn’t a break up that’s bad - it’s almost the ideal breakup - but somehow that makes it all the more uncertain that this is the right thing. Will they need and relate to each other in the same way again?
In this way, I interpret “seven wonders” to be a metaphor, it may not have so much to do with travel or someone wanting to see the world, but someone embarking on something new - maybe something completely foreign to the familiarity the couples enjoyed before. -
The song describes the broke up of a long relationship. But the woman believes that even if followed different path in the future they will be together again.

This song is about a couple that lived in this house long ago when they were together and the singer tries to share her feelings she had with her lovely man.The singer tries to apologize her ex boyfriend by writing this song.
Giwrgos Danis -
The song refers to a love story about two people who broke up and each other will follow different paths, because she lives to see the seven wonders and she wants to find someone with the same kid of intensity.

This song is about a chance encounter between a man and a woman that didn't lead to a relationship. But the woman hopes they get together in the future.

For me, this song is the story of the beginning of my relationship with my husband.
I wasn't necessarily looking for love but, amongst a group of friends, this guy started to stand out from the rest. I was a bit taken aback at first, then mildly amused and, finally, I started hoping to see him every time our group got together.
From hope, my feelings strengthened and I gave into the love that I now felt. For me, the lyrics, '...All the way back, you held out your hand. If I hope and if I pray, oooh, well it might work out someday...' came true...12 years, and a few months, ago! xx :)
