Florence + the Machine: Falling Meaning
Falling Lyrics
-
this song is about life in general. you have fun you live and then you hit the ground (die). you fall in love and then it comes to an end and breaks you. you free sail through life then you get to a storm so big you boat has to break. you ignore your problems and fall through living but you get to to the point where you hit the bottom and your problems are already there waiting for you
-
This is not about her suicide. It is about the destruction falling in love can cause. It is a secret love that she is obsessed with. Hitting the ground is when the love is real, not the fun falling in love part. When you realized you still have to go to work. And you have hurt people to get there. It may be worth it but there is no guarantee.

I think this song is about her wanting to commit suicide because maybe a lover broke her heart. However she suggests that she can't bare to kill herself because of the consequences in this line "because fallings not the problem" (death isnt the problem) "when I'm falling I'm in peace" (meaning she wants to be at peace by dying) "it's only when I hit the ground it causes all the grief"
