My interpretation is that it is about getting older and how your feelings change about life, what will happen and how most people don't understand until it actually happens to them.

Grohl is telling the listeners how when ones heart is broken they often get comfort from friends. And a lot of people help by saying "It's alright" when they have no idea what pain that person is suffering shown with "easy for you to say". Not only this, but referring to "One of these days" he is illustrating how one day, everyone's heart will be broken... or even stop.
