Black Balloon Lyrics

Baby's black balloon makes her fly
I almost fell into that hole in your life
And you're not thinking about tomorrow
'Cause you were the same as me
But on your knees

A thousand other boys could never reach you
How could I have been the...

I saw an interview on Johnny (lead singer) and he said his little sister was a Muel, one of those people who swallowed Black Balloons to smuggle cocaine across the border, and the balloon popped in her system and she died from the overdose.

Ice from the spoon is reffering to ice- Ice is the translucent crystal, smokable form of methamphetamine.

    You're welcome.

FACT: the song is written about robbie's wife and it refers to her heroin addiction but she is not dead. she has been clean now for a few years.

I used to think it was about abortion because I took a line from the song literally but now looking back its clearly the drug addiction interpretation. But in my honest opinion as much as I respect the instrumental quality of the song, the lyrics suck...I think Johnny boy was trying to be too literary and it went way over his head. I see where he's going generally but I think it could have been done much better-like parts of each theory doesn't fit. Even though he came out and said exactly what it meant I'm just like "yeah I don't see where you're coming from."

This song was written for Robby's (bassist/singer) wife who had passed from heroin, black balloons are used to cut off circulation to inject the heroin, and Robby's wife died from the heroin, Robby and Johnny both wrote this song together and Johnny himself said it was about heroin.

The song isn't about drugs! It's about a woman having an abortion. Just look at the line "And scatter like ice from the spoon that was your womb." He's talking about how she said no to so many other guys, but let him in and then she got pregnant, got an abortion and died because of it.

John Rzeznik's friend struggled with drugs and this song is about his friend. Or so I've heard.

Well actually the Black Balloon thing in Heroin is to cut off the blood for their injection. It's about someone he knew who died from drugs. And he kept trying to hold on to this person as a reason to live even as she was destroying herself.

"And I'll become, what you became to me." In the end however he realizes that motive to live is himself.

    And some lyrics are missing.

Whoever wrote the other interpretation about this song is an idiot.....Baby's Black Balloon is cocaine. In bigger cities some drug addicts dress up as clowns selling black balloons. The drug addicts know which ones are drug dealers and the price. It talks about how a girl he loved fell into the black hole (cocaine) "coming down the world turns over" or nothing is good when unless she's yayed up....but yes, this girl does die of an overdose.
