I think the "rescue" is the fact that he's giving into love, opening up. That's his fear. "My biggest fear will be the rescue of me" meaning that by opening up to this girl, will prove beneficial, will introduce to a great love, and tear down the wall he's built up.

These lyrics are some real talk, imo... relationships are hard, so much harder than one ever imagines; when does one walk away and “rescue” oneself from what is/could be your soulmate? But also cognizant to the reality, your significant other has the same pull to “rescue” themself. The should I stay or should I go, but it’s truly seeing why you love the other that you recognize seeing before. The way they smile, laugh, or just a look that it’s even a look: it’s timeless... Strange, because life can be so beautiful and so dark at the same time, or maybe because somehow both are out of sync... We change: age, have experiences, take on new roles, and perceptions based on these. Echo: something that’s reflected back or a close parallel or reverberates down to your very being. The same person is there and molded different in others. The littlest things matter the most when they are gone... It’s the echo that causes our fear. Change is a natural occurrence, not failure.

For me this song is all about a guy who is very much inlove with the girl, that he is afraid of his feeling for he knows their relationship will never last forever. And he just want to know how much did the girl love him.

I believe this song is about a rocky relationship that he wants out of, but at this moment he is giving back into her, falling for her eyes and he says he had to be reminded that he was alive and that she was worth the fight. He wants to be rescued from the obsession that he has with this girl. It is a fear because he knows he wants her but at the same time, ending it will set him free and rescue him from a rollercoaster relationsip. Idk I suck at explaining my views on things, but it is what I am going through right now and I had biased views that seemed to correlate it to my current emotions. Next week the sound could mean something totally different, and that is why this is such beautiful art.

This is song is about something I strongly believe in: Love. Looking into his lover's eyes and they reminding him of why she means so much to him. Every moment, he cherishes. And the lines "My biggest fear will be the rescue of me..." and "Your biggest fear will be the rescue of you..." are stated because a rescue from love is a bad thing.
