Incubus: Wish You Were Here Meaning
Song Released: 2001
Wish You Were Here Lyrics
The ocean looks like a thousand diamonds strewn across a blue blanket.
I lean against the wind, pretend that i am weightless and in this moment i am happy.
[Chorus:]
I wish you were here
I wish you were here
I...

Another reflection from a famous artist who in all his success, can only have it two ways because there is the complete absensce of privacy anywhere else but for which he can take a plane to get to...but when he gets there and is finally alone and thinks that he has accomplished that to which he has so been longing for, he realizes that his time away from the masses of asses would actually be more fulfilling if he were with someone he could love, and even more so, someone who would love him for who he really is. In light of realizing the double edged sword and that eutopia does not exist, he writes this song...and B writes this song very well.

After Losing a woman very dear to me after a breakup I didn't want, this song to me, is saying whereever I am or whatever I'm doing, I wish you were here... In certain moments I am happy, with the thought of you, still wishing you were here... That's it's meaning to me... Wishing she was still here. Which I still do..

It’s about living in the moment. He is celebrating his surroundings as if he was in a deep meditation. Or about being in a deep meditation. The wish you were here part is ethier for him self trying to be in the moment fully or wish that others could do the same.

"The song wasn't specifically about a person. It was about me acknowledging a very brief moment in my life and in my experience with all of these guys in making this record. In that moment, I wish that I had somebody to go, 'I love you, man.' I was wishing that there was someone there to share that moment with."-Brandon Boyd

I think that "Wish You Were Here" has a more internal meaning. I know that brandon is really deep and sometimes, the lyrics to his song actually involve the obvious meaning, and then the real meaning within. Instead of saying that I think you wish physically here with me, I think he's saying that "I wish you were here" which pertains more to his state of mind at the moment... Like you could be with me, but you wouldn't neccesarily see how beautiful the world that he sees really can be.

This song is about Brandon being in paradise and he wants his love to be there with him too because it is so amazing
-
i think the song is like a guy dreaming in paradise and he wishes the person he loves was there with him. If that makes sense!
