Kesha: The Harold Song Meaning
The Harold Song Lyrics
Ke$ha
I miss your soft lips.
I miss your white sheets.
I miss the scratch of your unshaved face
on my cheek.
And this is so hard,
'cause I didn't see,
that you were the love of my life and it kills me.
I see your face...

Ke$ha told Spin Magazine the song is about a former lover of hers. She explained: "'Harold' is about the only guy I've ever been in love with — and our relationship didn't work out, obviously. When I went to write it, I locked myself in a room and cried like a little b*. I can't even listen to it. But I wanted to do a vulnerable song because it's a side of myself that people haven't seen."
Ke$ha refused to hide her old flame's identity. The singer explained why she used Harold's actual name to Spin Magazine: "He's not getting away with a fake name. All men that date me have to know that their name may end up in a pop song. It's the best revenge: you can't get arrested for it, and everyone knows about it. And I like to be specific — I don't want any of the other losers I've dated to think the song was about them."
Ke$ha explained to Rolling Stone that she really did sneak into a Rolling Stones concert with Harold, which is something she got pretty good at. Said the singer: "Harold was my first boyfriend, and one of our first dates was sneaking in to see The Stones at Hollywood Bowl. I never even paid for a movie until recently. I snuck into a Strokes show and lost a shoe, but I got in there. I snuck into Coachella four years running. One year I ended up onstage with Björk. I always wear flat boots so I can climb." -

#2 top rated interpretation:She wrote it for her ex fiancé Harold, who died in a car crash before they got married. She was 21 when he died
-
Harold was her first love she left him to tour and he has since become her muse

No... It's not that innocent. Lemme clear it up.
This bastard named Harold (yes, he's not innocent and he didn't die) was, according to Ke$ha, "The only person I ever loved". Harold cheated on her (after stringing her along) - and it entirely broke her heart. Other songs are also inspired by Harold, notably "Your love is my drug" (before he cheated, obviously).
Stephen (as described by Ke$ha) is "Not cool". Stephen isn't a bastard, like Harold. Kesha was 15 and crushed totally hard on Stephen. Stephen wasn't interested and Kesha went (in her own words) 'Totally stalker b!tch'. Kesha obviously grew out of this phase. -
He didn't die!!!!
She even said herself that he broke it off ! Get your facts straight people! -
i beleive this song is about losing love. kesha lost harold somehow and now she'd "give it all to not be sleeping alone." i think its a sad song but beautiful at the same time because she loved harold so much
-
Idk if he broke up with her, or died in a car crash, but I for one am A true believer in love and happiness, Kesha deserves to be happy and I also believe harold did die in a car crash. I also believe that she wrote this song to express the way she feels, not only explaining the pain she was feeling, but also that she Is a real person and most certainly not a druggie or whatever the heck u crazed fans tend to call her. <3

I'm not positive on the meaning of this song, but i'm pretty sure her fiance had, named Harold (r.i.p.) was killed in a car accident. Poor Ke$ha must miss him alot. I'm happy she made a song with a meaning unlike all the meaningless songs out there. I hope that this song helps Ke$ha to be stronger in life. GO KE$HA!

he didnt die...she wrote the song when she was 15 or something and at one of her concerts she said it was about stephen not anyone named stephen...but then i read his name was harold sooo idk...when i meet her ill be sure to write back and let everyone know the truth!!

She wrote this song about her fiancé who had passed away in a car accident, his name was Harold so she wrote the song about him and named it "The Harold Song". She was 21 when he had died :'(
-
This song is dedicated to her ex-fiance who passed away . This song hits me in a soft place . This is a very sad and touching song :'(
-
The song is about Kesha's finianc`e, Harold, who died in a car accideny. She obviously misses him deeply and it's killing her to live when he is not alive.
