Killswitch Engage: The Arms of Sorrow Meaning
Song Released: 2007
The Arms of Sorrow Lyrics
Hiding behind the empty smiles
So simple (the anguish)
As it mocks me
Crawling back into the dark
Running, always running, into the distance
Stop me before I bleed, again
The echoes of my voice
Follow me...
-
It sounds to me like suffering from depression, they are falling deeper and deeper into the black abyss and attempt to hide behind the empty smile we all try to show, no one ever knowing the amount of effort that it takes
-
When I first listened to this song...its how I feel. The "demons" that I (and i think everyone in there own way) have and fight. Even six years after being deployed, and my outlook and view of life changing forever. But in a weird way it helps me to face my demons. To do what I can to better my life and try to enjoy it. Music...it is amazing how "powerful" it can be.

I agree with you both, I feel as if the arms of sorrow is his/her way of expressing the depression they feel. As well as the part where it says "Stop me before I bleed, again" means that there is a cutting problem because the person is so depressed they just don't know what to do. I think that when they say "Imprisoned, inside this mind
Hiding behind the empty smiles" that they feel like a prisioner in their own body but, they don't want people to know that so they have a fake smile on so that people won't see the pain that really exsists. -
"imprisoned inside this mind.hiding behind these empty smiles" basicaly means that he or she is forced to hide the emotions behind the smile and is imprisoned inside his or her mind becuase they cant show their real emotions.
he keeps falling into depression deeper and deeper..
for some reason depression keeps getting him..and wants someone to help him stop so he wont cut himself
thats what i belive that it means. -
I believe that it is talking about depression because it says" I'm falling into the arms of sorrow; deeper I'm falling" Or I also think it means It means something incredibly bad happened to him/her or her and they don't know what to do. Also at the beginning of the song "hiding behind the empty smiles" That the person wants to end his/her life.
