Lady Gaga: Alejandro Meaning
Song Released: 2009
Alejandro Lyrics
I know that we are young
And I know that you may love me
But I just can't be with you like this
any more Alejandro
Oh (oh, oh, oh)
Oh (oh, oh, oh)
She's got both hands
In her pocket
And she wont look at you
Won't look at...

#1 top rated interpretation:It's really confusing...
the trinity could have a religious connotation and if we remembered on the video the nun would prove it, the catholic grandmas usually says that nuns are engaged with God and in this case her boyfriend is like a dad because god is the father of us, besides, catholic ones belive that god are three different persons but only one true god ... so Alejandro is the father, Fernando is the son (Jesus) and Roberto is the holy spirit...
Other thing, she has both hands on her pocket (her vagina) where she hides true love (only she should has sex with someone she really loves) she has a ring on her finger because she is engaged with god she is a nun, and he has a halo, so he is a saint, he is god. besides she won't look at him because nobody has seen god before, at least in last 2000 years.
It seems like she is tempted to have sex (He is hot like mexico, who? alejandro? who knows, most probably is other guy) but she is struggling against that because she says that she doesn't wanna touch neither kiss while she says don't call my name to alejandro, fernando and roberto (god, jesus, holy spirit) then she is fighting against her religious believes, she wants sex but is a sin. -

#2 top rated interpretation:This song has a rather simple interpretation, actually. When she says not to call her name, she is referring to the fact that the relationship itself has moved on and she wants to forget about it and wants the "significant other" to forget about it as well. Smooking her cigarette and being quiet also refers to the fact that she no longer wants to discuss the relationship, and no longer wants to stress over it, and smoking might help her relax, as it does most people. She refers to her as being "not broken, she's just a baby", and "her boyfriend's like a dad, just like a dad". This means that she's not a complete mess, and not all torn up by her breaking up with her boyfriend, but that she is sad about it, and might cry, something that babies are known to do. Her boyfriend being like a dad could have been why she ended the relationship in the first place, as many women don't enjoy being treated by their boyfriend as a dad would treat them. When she says that he will have flames to dull, it means that the spark in the relationship no longer exists, and that the preverbial "flame/spark" has gone out or has been exstinguished. "Cooling the bad" means that he has to try and calm the fire and cool the bad attitudes that they might have been having when they broke up, to maybe save the relationship, or at least to remain friends. As she constantly switches between the names Alejandro, Fernando, and Roberto throughout the song, that could mean that she has multiple relationships with others, and could possibly confusing the name of the actual man with whom she is breaking up, or that she cares so little that she keeps forgetting his name. Rather simply, this song, Alejandro, is a song about Lady GaGa dealing with her fear of sex Monster, and about her fear of having a faithful relationship with another.

#3 top rated interpretation:Alejandro, Fernando, and Roberto...
God, Jesus, Holy Spirit.
she does not want to have anything to do with them anymore. just my thoughts -
this song is about fearing men and intimacy. in the song, she says " she's not broken, she's just a baby, but her boyfriends like a dad" saying her boyfriend takes over in the relationship

I think this song is about the death and escape of an aspect of a human life. Yes the video is quiet religious, but i don't think she's being in love for money, or in love with a gay man, or cheating. I think she is not a "she" at all. I think this is about a person who has discovered something new about themselves that goes against all forms of both culture and religion, leaving them lonely and defenseless. There old self is dead so to speak, and calling their name just brings them grief, especially when the one thing that doesn't know about their true identity(and the only one who matters) calls that name, that thing being alejandro. Personally for at least one interpretation of the song, i think it is about a transgender person(be they male, female, or neither) discovering there new selves and wanting to leave there old lives and feelings behind. This puts alejandro in the place of the one person that cannot know of the change, and the abandonment of that person because they can no longer take lying to them about what they truly desire to be. As an mtf it is clear it is about a trans women running away from her old life as a homosexual or bi male to become a women, working her way through cultural oppression and religion to reach their goal. In this case alejandro could even be their old name as a man they are trying to escape. For an ftm it is a gay or bi trans man trying to escape the confines of a female body while escaping the somewhat normal heterosexual life they had been living with alejandro to pursue their life as a man. They abandon their love knowing they would never understand the pain they are going through and alejandro could stand for both the lover and the name they wish to take on as a male, insisting there female name not be repeated and not to call them things like babe, commonly used affectionately in place of girlfriend. Both have people who try to love them and comfort them through touches and kisses, telling them they are perfect how they are and that it is some kind of confidence issue, not realizing the issue is not about their partners feelings but their own, and that nothing but the silence and feel of there own skin, the hurt of a cigarette even, could calm there nerves on their personal journey to whom they know they are and will become, forcing them to break many hearts of people they care about because they are treated like a fetish, or that their gender issues are a faze and only need a bit of coaxing from a lover to be corrected.

Gaga has mentioned that she loves the play Taming of a Shrew. In that play the man in the relationship bosses and orders his soon-to-be bride all day/everyday. The bride finally gets fed up with being controlled by the man and says "Don't call my name, I'm not your babe!" So I've always thought this song is about female empowerment...in a very weird and twisted way of course

Whatever I love her so much that I can't help myself.

I dont know why everybody is getting all butt hurt & standing up for gaga saying not to bring religion into it. Nobody is bringing religion into it because lady gaga has already established that by wearing a freakin nun's costume & swallowing rosary beads! Of course thats gonna stir up some debate on the lyrics/meaning of the song. You do have to question yourself though, why are almost all of her songs in relation to religion in some way thru her lyrics or videoos? & why?
-
I personally support the whole
babe: Child
Alejandro: God
Fernando: Jesus
Roberto: holy spirit/ghost
Lol why are so many people hating?
Its her choice what she beleives in. So what if she is satanist? Last I checked there are more Christians in jail then satanists. Just saying. -
Okaaay...We have a lot of confusing things going on here; so I'm going to try and sort things out.
Some of the best theories are(in no particular order, to quote Steve Jones from X Factor USA))
1-Lady Gaga is in love with many men
2-The names Alejandro, Roberto, and Fernando represent God, Jesus, and The Holy Spirit.
3-This is about a boyfriend of hers who turned out gay
4-This is about her fear of sex
These four reasons are what most people are saying. They all have pretty good evidence for all of them. I am going to explain them all and let each individual person choose their own meaning.
This could possibly be about her love for many men due to the fact that she uses three different men's names, but I do not think this is likely. Especially because she says things like "don't wanna kiss" and "don't wanna touch". There are reasons this idea could be assumed but I personally think there is a deeper meaning to this song.
The fact that Alejandro is God is a very good point. But think, instead of trying to kill the Christain religion she just wants a little bit of freedom to do what she wants. Keep in mind she went to an all girls catholic school when she was younger. One reason this might be the point of this song is because one of my family members saw her in concert and every time she said "Alejandro" in this song she lit a statue of Jesus on fire. If you think that this is the reason she wrote this song then you must admit she is a very clever songwriter.
One person posted that this was about one of her boyfriends that turned gay. You should really read that post. It has good reasons for this idea.
It also could be about her fear off sex. Some of the lyrics match this point and she says it is about this in an interview.
You may think this song is about all, some, one, or none of the things. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Thank you for reading my extremely long post (sorry!) and thanks to Lady Gaga for writing a song that can cause so much thought and discussion.

I don't know about the exact meaning or interpretation of the damn song, but every time i hear it, it just sounds so...wrong.
Love what you may about it, but there's something weird going on with music and the lyrics.
just saying. -
She's slipping and she's not believing in God anymore. Now, she's serving Satan.
