Lady Gaga: The Edge of Glory Meaning
Covered By: Glee Cast
The Edge of Glory Lyrics
Tonight, yeah baby
Tonight, yeah baby
I got a reason that you’re who should take me home tonight
I need a man that thinks it’s right when it’s so wrong
Tonight, yeah baby
Tonight, yeah...

#1 top rated interpretation:death is always something sad for who love us, we don't want our loved ones pass away to the other side hence the dance in the flames is that feeling of pain... but is glorious too because we've had a chance of living in this beautiful place that is something to be thankful a chance of love and be loved "cause everybody knows our name that night" it means that our loved ones are around us and we were important to someone here.

2TOP RATED
#2 top rated interpretation:Her "Edge of Glory" is her final moment at life. "I'm on the Edge of something final we call life tonight."
People think that she makes references to hell other than heaven - "Put on your shades 'cause I'll be dance in the flames tonight."
This song was written on the day of her Grandfathers funeral and I think that not only is she singing to him, I am imagining her singing with him. -

#3 top rated interpretation:The Edge of Glory is a song Gaga wrote for her grandfather after he died. It's about hanging on to that final moment of truth, that final moment with him.

When my grandpa died with cardiac arrest it’s very awful because I’ve been praying for him to protect him and be with other people with gods angels the angels are so pretty they’re definitely have outfits for me to wear on Halloween
-
The song is about, how when I watch my grandpa die, I believe that he looks my grandmother and I realize that he was a champion in the life and that's when he's able to go to the edge of glory that represents being on the edge of that glorious moment."

I think to this song to the part of this song is to have fun and to be popular but it’s very cool and also famous being popular. But when it came from the music into tunes. But it usually mix the music together into the chorus. But Jonas brothers are helping me get the music on.

I think the song itself is pretty catchy, but other than that, taking it at face value... and at a stretch (even after I discovered that supposedly this song was inspired by her deceased grandfather), I just don't see anything deeper than meeting someone at a club and going home with him for a one night stand. The edge of glory would, in this case, be her expectation of being propositioned and taken home by a stranger, even if it was wrong (according to the lyrics).
"Another shot before we kiss the other side..." At best, her grandfather's death is causing her to seize the moment and live like there is no tomorrow... regardless of consequences... just do what you feel kind of thing, including sleeping with someone she's just met.
That's the song at face value. Nothing more, nothing less. Not my opinion, unless you'd like to rationalize away what she's clearly expressing here. There's not a lot of room here for symbolic/ abstract/ metaphoric interpretations. At a push, her granddaddy's passing caused her to write a song about doing things spontaneously. No deeper than that. -
its about the time that you're going to "glory" thats why its in edge of it.
the beutiful moments with grandfather and thinking that he's in heaven. -
Wrong, she's obviously refering to edging. Google it

Yeah... OK, so, I just heard a bunch of kids singing this on America's Got Talent after not hearing it for awhile. Now, I never paid any mind to what this song was, is, or could be about--and it really doesn't matter--but it just sounded like they were singing about sex to me. Very, very odd. If it weren't for '...everybody knows my name tonight', I would think they were. However, if the song was about sex, wouldn't it be '...everybody knows _your_ name tonight' because she'd be calling it out?
-
This song could be about death, but it's also a sort of double entendre referring to a glory hole. It could be interpreted as if she were talking to someone that she "met" on the other side of a glory hole that's freaky and risque enough for her to want to take him home and do more with.

from the first second this song reminds me of my motorcycle. "its hot to feel the rush, to brush the dangerous" being on the edge, "your knee touching the pavement" I need a man that thinks its right when its so wrong" considering the dangers of riding vs the feelings of euphoria. glory to me, representing the thrill of coming in first place, "another shot before we kiss the other side" take a drink cause the next ride might be the last. Not that my thoughts are correct but I feel like this song is what a female manifestation of a motorcycle would sing to her man when riding, the bliss of being completely free on a bike comes at a great cost, living on the edge to some is better than simply living day to day without that unique feeling. I think her message is broad, in that people should live their lives doing what they love, live on the edge because the closer you get to the edge, the closer you are to death, and the closer to death you are, the more you are alive! Why live if your not ALIVE?

i know this is about illiminati she is telling us that death is coming soon i mean people really wake up and read between the lines it dont take a rocket scientist to figure out what she is talking about.she gone be dancing in the flames who would do that unless you symbolize hate really i do my looking around and you find out about alot of stuff she sold her soul to the devil for fame money sex and etc. get it together people

This song is about gaga and her grandfather in the hospital and her grandpa tells her " Don't cry, this is my moment. I'm on the edge of glory". The edge of glory is 2 things, when your born and when you die. She wrote this song like you have to live life to it's fullest and when hour time has come, its not sad. Its relieving them of their pain.

Its about Gaga realising that some day, death will take her. She wont tread carefully and avoid the fire, she'll put her shades on and dance in the flames. She even says she is pushing the dangerous. Shes constantly standing on the edge, just like her grandad, so she just wants to live without fear, so standing 'on the edge' might even be a pun cus on the edge means like anxious. Plus, she wants to believe her grandad isnt far away and that he is always closeby, so maybe Gaga finds comfort in these lyrics. Its lyrical and musical genius anyway!
-
"Tonight, Yeah baby," certainly doesn't sound like someone singing to or about her dying grandfather! Sounds like she is luring a lover to her personal edge. Anyway 38 interpretations and counting....Wonder if anyone has asked Lady Gaga, herself for the meaning. Sighhhh...This reminds me of the thousands of interpretations of Bible Scriptures, and everyone still left scratching their heads.

shes on the edge of her glory hole
-
It's about her having an orgasm. And he's holding her back from it because he's a dick.
