Marina and the Diamonds: Power & Control Meaning
Song Released: 2012
Power & Control Lyrics
And control
Give a little, get a lot
That's just how you are with love
Give a little, get a lot
Yeah you may be good-looking, but you're not a piece of art
Power and control
I'm gonna make you fall
Power and control
I'm gonna...

Honestly I always got the idea that this song was about playing with fire.
Possibly involving herself with a dangerous male who is extremely manipulative and likes to play mind games. "Power and Control" says it all. But the tone almost sounds taunting - like she either got out of an emotionally abusive relationship and is recognizing it or is taunting a certain male that she knows has the potential to be controlling and manipulative. -
I think she's taunting her boyfriend, she is saying she has the power to break his heart. Even though he thinks he can break hers, he can't because she's a player (as she says in 'bubblegu bitch' and 'how to be a heartbreaker').
