Marina and the Diamonds: Primadonna Meaning
Song Released: 2012
Primadonna Lyrics
Primadonna girl, yeah
All I ever wanted was the world
I can't help that I need it all
The primadonna life, the rise and fall
You say that I'm kinda difficult
But it's always someone else's fault
Got you wrapped around my finger,...

1TOP RATED
#1 top rated interpretation:This song is conveying that the lead singer wants what is best for her. She wants to live the fancy life, just like any other girl. The song states that she wants a man to care for her and attend to her needs. She basically wants to be spoiled. She also doesn't want to deal with the routine of every day, she wants something new and exciting.
-
The lead singer, rather than saying she wants someone to spoil her, is singing this song in the first person as someone who thinks the "primadonna" lifestyle is shallow and without meaning. In one line she says all of her "things" are just filling the void. That none of it really means anything. The song itself is a feminist criticism of the lift some women life in which they are given everything they want even though they dont deserve it (also a line in the song).
