One Direction: Strong Meaning
Strong Lyrics
My hands, your hands
Tied up like two ships drifting
Weightless, waves try to break it
I'd anything to save it
Why is it so hard to save it?
My heart, your heart
Sit tight like bookends
Pages between us
Written with no...

#1 top rated interpretation:Ok, after reading all these I can see that almost everyone is a Larry Shipper. As I am. So here's my thoughts about "Strong"
The song starts off,
My hands, your hands tied up like two ships
(Meaning they are tied together and in love)
Drifting, weightless, waves try to break it
(People not agreeing with their relationship)
I'd do anything to save it, why is it so hard to say it
(they'd do anything to prove the people wrong, even though its hard to tell the other person)
my heart, your heart sit tight like book ends
(Their heart sitting together like a book)
Pages between us, written with no end
(their love story and it has no ends of stopping)
Then there is the chorus
I'm sorry if I say "I need you"
(Saying sorry to others about the two peoples relationship)
but I don't care, I'm not scared of love
(Not caring what others think, not afraid to admit it)
cause when I'm not with you, I'm weaker
(Not being with the other person makes them feel lonely and vulnerable)
Is that so wrong? is it so wrong?
(Asking people who disagree with the relationship for a reason)
that you make me strong.
Basically the rest of the song follows the lead of this, making the same points.
Over all, my thought about this song is how the two people are in a relationship which is looked down upon but the two people don't care because without each other they don't feel right.
Who its about? Larry 100% -

#2 top rated interpretation:I fully believe it's about Larry Stylinson. I may not have shipped them before, but know I do. It's plain to see is about them.

#3 top rated interpretation:Seriously guys, its about Larry. Why would it state "is that so wrong, is it so wrong, that you make me strong"? I'm personally gay myself and have been told multiple times that I'm going to hell for being with my girlfriend. She's gotten the same thing. The "i don't care, im not scared of love" part obviously means that Louis is sick and tired of having to hide with Eleanor. The reason I say Louis is because he was a co-writer. Also, do you guys remember the rumors going around with the secret Larry wedding? Louis obviously wants to or they both have already committed. I mean there's suppose to be a huge "announcement" or something in February. I'd bet you a gazillion dollars that its Harry and Louis coming out of the closet and exposing Modest! yet once again. Basically same crap, different band.
-
I've heard that Harry and Louis don't like Larry Stylinson. Not every song about love has to be about them. You don't have to ruin a good song just because you ship a false rumor. Not trying to be rude, but a bunch of Larry shippers are turning everything into things about Larry, when really, they are not.
-
Strong means well when they say i'm sorry i say if i need ya but i don't care i'm scared of love it means that this girl is making them strong and it's not just about Larry it's about one direction saying that they are sorry that they need this girl i mean obviously it's about one direction and this girl okay you guys.
Love Rachel Tullis follow me on face book, twitter. -
its about larry. louis wrote this song along with jaime scott who also helped louis write no control, another song that is rumored to be about larry. the songs lyrics hint at their matcing tattoos, and having to stay in the closet.
-
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
-
"This is about Larry havent you guys seen the Larry videos??" Yeah because a video of Louis and Harry looking at each other in slow motion proves they're together.
-
THIS SONG IS 100% LARRY STYLINSON OK
First there are the tattoos, Harry has the ship and anchor, Louis had the compass and then a year after Harry got the anchor he got the ropes on his wrist, and its made so if they held hands the ropes would align perfectly with the anchor so that it'll hold it up or something.
And then there's that picture Harry posted on Instagram with the two anonymous guys(not showing their faces) and the caption read "Strong."
And some of Harry's other pictures were kind of obvious too, like how he took pictures of the men and women's bathroom doors for some reason and how he posted a picture of two guys were beards and caption read "Beard-os Weirdos" probably indicating that Eleanor was a beard.
And then there was that last song on the album "Half a Heart" which they have never sang live and it talks about Harry & Louis's past relationship during the time they met :(
I feel like the songs that are written about 'girls' are for the other boys (Niall/Zayn/Liam) but not for Harry & Louis, even though they sing the parts. Those songs are to hide the the truth but some songs give hints and it makes it so obvious I swear :^( -
This song is about Louis and Harry. It's so obvious. (Your hands my hands tied up like two ships) Harry has a tattoo of two hands tied up, then he has a ship and Louis has a compass for the ship. Management made it where they can't show their true feelings, but they found a way.

Dammit everyone needs to stop with Larry
-
"Strong" is about Larry Stylinson. Its Obvious.I found out that this song was co-written by Louis Tomlinson. He says"I'm sorry if I say,'I need you'But I dont care, I'm not scared of love. Why would you be scared of love? BECAUSE he's in love with Harry and that he's gay but manag.wouldn't let them love. He doesn't care about management and public and that he needs Harry.
''Cause when I'm not with you I'm weaker. Is
that so wrong? Is it so wrong? That you make me strong." When he's not with Harry he fees weak.
This song is about Larry. Hear the song carefully. -
I'm a larry shipper but after some thought I kinda realised it might be for elounor??
Firstly, Louis wrote this song. It is said thAt it's written for eleanor
We all know Hannah Walker, Louis' past gf. She broke up with louis bc she couldn't bear being away from Louis.
There's a part in Strong which is Louis' solo.
"Think of how much love that's been wasted, people always trying to escape it, move on to stop their heart breaking." Is louis trying to tell eleanor that he will never leave her even though they are always separated during tours?? Is louis trying to say that he will not leave El the way Hannah left him?! -
Omg... All these Larry interpretations.. Look at the way 'Is it so wrong that you make me strong' is written. Its known throughout society that a boy being stronger because of a relationship is wrong and the girl is supposed to be weak and vulnerable without a man. This is the boy saying is the fact that the relationship makes him strong a bad thing.. not the relationship itself.
And no i am not homophobic, but i don't think this song is about them or any other song they have ever written. If Larry is real, and Modest is trying to hide it, there is no way a song that is apparently so clearly about Larry get put out in the public, never mind an album, it wouldn't of even been recorded. -
LARRY
First, to the people saying that it is about a girl and guy...take out the gender please. Then decipher the meaning. Do you honestly think Management or the boys would release a song that outs themselves when everyone is trying so hard to convince the world they are not in a relationship and they are not gay? This is about the situation not the gender. THE SITUATION IS THE IMPORTANT THING. Gender does not matter. Now look deep at the meaning. The situation is larry's situation. Completely larry. Louis and Harry are communicating their feelings through a lot of their songs whether you believe it or not. And Louis just so happen to write this song.
Larry Stylinson forever -
I completely and utterly believe this is about Larry Stylinson. I'm very sorry if I'm upseting your personal opinion about the Larry/ Elounor controversy, but this song is about Louis loving Harry. Even if it isn't about Larry for some odd reason, it is at least about being homosexual and having forbidden love or someone keeping you from loving the same gender.
-
sorry, but this song IS NOT Larry.
Its about a boy loving a girl and the girl being afraid to love him back, so the boy is asking himself is it right for him to love her, okay? Not if the love itself it right. This song was his way to express his feeling towards her. He isn't afraid to love her, but she is scared to love him back. -
Those of you saying this is about "Larry", please, stop. Can we decipher the true meaning of this beautiful song please? To me, the song is about a man and a woman in a relationship. There seems to be some external and internal forces going against them "Waves try to break it" even though they've been in a relationship for a while, they seem to be holding back on some feelings "So many words we're not saying." She seems to be afraid of love and he seems to have pride issues. He must be stuck in the age old stereotype that women need men more than men need them. But he puts his pride aside by admitting that he truly needs her "I'm sorry if I say I need you" and he ask "Is that so wrong?, Is that so wrong?" because society deems it wrong for men to be dependent on women. This is such a beautiful song and another one of my favorites from Midnight Memories.
