One Direction: Walking In The Wind Meaning
Walking In The Wind Lyrics
"Do you believe I'll never be too far"
If you're lost, just look for me
You'll find me in the region of the summer stars
The fact that we can sit right here and say goodbye
Means we've already won
The necessity for...

#1 top rated interpretation:This is what makes the most sense to me. As I am not a writer of the song, it is not 100% confirmed, but it makes a lot of sense.
"A week ago you said to me 'do you believe I'll never be too far?'"
Exactly one week before Zayn's departure was Zayn's last concert with One Direction. This could signify that Zayn had a conversation with Harry (since Harry is the one who wrote the song) about leaving the band a week before the announcement. It is also known that Zayn and Harry had a phone call at 2AM the day Zayn announced his departure.
- Zayn also quit touring during One Direction's Asia tour. Harry has stated the concept for Walking in the Wind came about while the band was in Asia.
There's two different ways I take the line: "Do you believe I'll never be too far?" This could be Zayn basically saying do you think I'll be stuck here forever (in One Direction)? (it could be seen near the end of Zayn's time with One Direction he seemed a bit unhappy, although it was nothing against the boys, it was also the time a lot of rumors were being said about his relationship by the media, which rightfully made him mad).
The line could also be Zayn's way of saying "Do you think that even when I leave, I'll never be too far from you guys?" (basically will we always have each other)
Harry responds with his way of saying 'if you ever feel lost, I'll always be around'.
- "If you're lost just look for me you'll find me in the region of the summer stars"
"The fact that we can sit right here and say goodbye means we've already won."
This shows that there was no bad blood between Zayn and the other One Direction members at the time of Zayn leaving. The fact that Harry, Louis, Liam, and Niall could say their goodbyes, best of luck and see you around to Zayn and he could do it back, shows that they'd always have each other's backs and that they "won".
"A necessity for apologies between you and me.. there is none."
Basically Harry is saying Zayn doesn't need to apologize for leaving the band/feel sorry or bad.
"We had some good times didn't we?.... Goodbyes are bittersweet, but it's not the end. I'll see your face again."
Harry is reflecting on all the good times One Direction had with Zayn and with each other. But there is no need to worry, the road is not coming to an end. They'll come across Zayn again.
"You will find me in places that we've never been
For reasons we dont understand
Walking in the wind."
I take this as Harry basically saying no matter where Zayn goes in the future, Harry will be "walking in the wind" basically implying that even though he's not there physically, he'll be supporting Zayn/be by Zayn's side. Harry and the boys will always be with Zayn.
"Yesterday I went out to celebrate the birthday of a friend
But as we raised our glasses up to make a toast I realized you were missing"
This part is pretty self explanatory. Harry is saying when he went to celebrate his friend's birthday, he realized there was a person missing: Zayn. Since Zayn is no longer in One Direction, Zayn is not by their side a lot anymore (physically). This probably felt weird and a hard pill to swallow for all of them.
This song overall is very hopeful and basically saying that the 4 of them will have Zayn's back always. It's a bit sad now when you see that the boys no longer have a relationship with Zayn anymore, but sometimes life plays out in ways you never expect. Harry did a beautiful job at writing this song, and it really tugs at the heartstrings. -

i see the phrase as the idea of you'll see me everywhere you go even though I'm not there with you physically I'm always with you and wishing you the best. -

#3 top rated interpretation:if you don’t think this song is about harry and zayn’s phone call you are lying to yourself. it’s about harry and zayns phone call, harry wrote the song. he was heartbroken
-
it’s definitely about Zayn, and the fact that Harry wrote this song makes it worse. “A week ago you said to me do you believe I’ll ever be too far?” It’s Zayn asking if they’re ever gonna drift away.
-
This is definitely about zayn.
“A week ago you told me”
Zayn told the boys in Hong Kong a week before that he wanted to go on a break
Harry literally wrote this song about zayn and their ending friendship and hopes to him again one day
-
I feel like its about zayn leaving because even though he might not be in the band they will always still see him.
-
i not yet become directioner when they still active(before they announced hiatus) and i pleased to be on direction family. but i really feel broken when read all of this directioner opinion about this song. for me, walking in the wind is about their friendship with zayn before he left. i cant think about more mean in this song except that.
-
I think this is about Harry and Zayn's long phone call early in the morning where Zayn told Harry that he has to leave the band
"But its not the end, I'll see your face again" They are saying that it's not the end of their friendship with Zayn and that one day will reunite with him again -
this song is about zayn leaving the band and harry coping with it. (he wrote the song). before zayn left the band, him and harry had a long phone call that ended with a lot of crying and tears and this is harry’s way of saying that he is heartbroken zayn is leaving but he’s happy that they had good times while they lasted, and he wants to see him again someday like the old times.
-
I feel like this song is about someone passing away, and meeting again in heaven. I mean, "But it's not the end, I'll see your face again" and some other lyrics start to back up this point. It could have a lot of meaning to Louis, especially to do with his Mother and Sister passing away.
-
I felt like they wanted to express both their plans to go on a hiatus and Zayn's abrupt leaving the band...
-
I feel like this song is about them taking a break. I feel like they are letting us k ow that they aren’t over and they will be back soon.
-
Could be for zayn leaving but if we listen to it, that could be describe about friend or lover leaving. And still they will be friend "a fact that we can sit right here and say goodbye means we've already won-- a necessesity for apologize between you and me baby theres none" so they ended the relationship with goodbye : good-bye :)) good ending. So hope theyll meet again in other place that they've not been before- with those peace :))
And walking in the wind means? Im still confusing:(( -
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
-
"A week ago you said to me do you believe I'll never be too far" their last performance with zayn was a week before he left

I would say this song is about one directions break
This is not the end, i´ll see you´re face again (It is not the end of one directions break their gonna see their fans eventually)
The fact that we can sit right here and say goodbye means we´ve already won (This means the directioners faced the goodbyes to the boys on their last performance but this means they got through the tough part already)
And i´ll be by you´re side anytime you´re needing me (The boys will still be in the fans heart through the whole long time)
So in conclusion this song is about the break and how they promise they´ll be back -
I think the song is about Zayn & how they will always be there for him.
1.) "but it's not the end I'll see your face again" basically how it's not the end of 1d just because Zayn left, they still gonna keep going & they will see zayn again.
2.) "you will find me in places that we've never been" zayn will find them when he needs something.
3.) "raised our glasses up to make a toast I realized you were missing" Zayn was missing when they celebrated on of their birthdays.
4.) "We had some good times, didn't we?" they all had good times working together.
