OneRepublic: Burning Bridges Meaning
Burning Bridges Lyrics
Ain't no doubt about it
No way to hide that sort of thing
Now I’m waiting for something better
Ain't nothing better worth imagining
I, I keep on running
I’m building bridges that I know you never wanted
Look...

Don't hold onto to the past. Whatever has happened move on and forgive and forget

Sorry to hear about your sibling. I'm not sure if it's a wasted life. I think he knew what he was doing. Hope he will get well. Is he dying mentally or emotionally? Hope he will be strong and live because being 55 is still young. People nowadays live longer. Hope he set his life on fire. -
my brother is dying, he is an alcoholic,he has burned every one in the family. he will not let his past treatment die.has had very little contact with his children.every one he has gone to for help has passed him to someone else.example,, when he was staying with me I could not have a cousin of ours over because he said the cousin beat him up as children , my brother is 55.this is not a song of love, it is a song of wasted life.fits my bro. like a glove

He built bridges thinkins he wasn't good enough for her now he wants her to burn those bridges down so he has no where to run since they were meant to be setting him on fire means his heart is on fire for her because they are in love and ain't nothing better gonna come along
-
It's a breakup song - plain and simple.
In his mind they were meant to be (first paragraph) but now he says he is waiting for something better to come along. But that something is never gonna be as good as this relationship.
He can't walk away so he's asking her to do it for him. "Set me on fire...Will you burn my bridges down?"
